I second the Tilley hat- I'm on my third now, and have only paid for the first one!

They may look funny at first, but once you wear one for a while, you won't want to wear anything else!

   (sorry Ryan  ;))

Back to the original question I'm also going to say Tilley.  Mine is a T3.  I've now worn it in all kinds of weather, from warm sun (at the meet-up for example) to deep winter and lashing rain.  While technically not waterproof the cotton is so dense it does an excellent job of keeping the water out.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Dunc and I get issued a Tilley hat for work. Come rain or shine they are fantastic. We work in all weathers. When its really hot i will soak mine under a tap and then wear it and it cools me down. The secret pocket is great to hide a little cash or a credit card in or even a swisscard lol. They are expensive but are worth it.
A Tilley hat is for life not just for christmas!!!!!!  :D

I know I sound like a commercial/spam! lol but me and the GF luv ours, we've had them for a year now
