I just bought some Bosch compatible jigsaw blades. As already mentioned by others, they are almost half compared to the Leatherman saws. Can anyone explain his solution for minimizing blade play? Pictures are much welcomed!
Thanks.

I tried it. It gets better but it still has some play. The new Surge will be having the best solution perhaps. If they would be selling the new holder we could upgrade our older tools.

Been carrying the BO surge for awhile now.

If they: got rid of the bottle opener and small bit driver to make room for a second bit driver and replaced the scissors with a second file/saw holder (so I could have file and saw avail at all times), they'd have a nearly perfect tool for my purposes.

Also the velcro on the sheath sucks.

Can the jigsaw blades fit in with the surge closed or do they have to be taken out after each use? Also are the Bosch blades longer lasting /faster than LM's?

Some blades are shorter than the LM's (metal and fine wood usually) so you can store them, others are longer (wood fast and regular) and you have to take them out or cut the tip of them ( but longer is more efficient). About how they last I don't know but, since they are cheap by the dozen, who cares?

With the old style Surge the Bosch blades wiggle a bit cause they are thinner than the LM blades so a shim of some sorts to keep it from wiggling is useful. The 2013 updated Surge now has that problem fixed. As for the length of the blades, kkokkolis has it right.

I tried the wood saws. All worked fine but the Leatherman is the most aggressive. I wonder if the Bosch blades are better (these I got were cheap Chinese generic saws). If so I would get just two, metal and fast wood.

I´m in, too.
Until now, i did not carry the Surge at work, as i regularly need a Bluntnose Plier.

Metro did help me out and provided a blunted head which i dropped in.
iIwill tear the whole tool apart, as i have seen quite some lint/oil muck inside upon closer inspection.

Maybe i´ll round some edges while it is apart and i will definetely bend the one leg a bit inwards so it sits flush with it´s cast end piece.

In other places he would be called an enabler, but i like to think of him as a friendly guy supplying my fix ;-)

His Skinth´s are super awesome and the Bluntnose Plier head is very well made - Although he made me a very good price on it, he put some work in it and not only milled the head down but chamfered the edges and gave everything a once over with sanding paper to get an even and stock looking surface.

Very nice. A blunt nose is handy for nails and working with wire. But for general purpose a needle nose is more suited.
Needing both is an excuse for carrying two Multitools!

I looked for a post or topic about this but didn't see one, I was wondering what you all use to clean/de-rust your tools. I was thinking of a good penetrating oil or gun oil?

PS: I love the blunt nose pliers!

I use my tool at work to loosen and tighthen small diameter pipe fixings. The room is so tight that a needleneose will hit the wall behind the pipe instead of letting me turn it.
Apart from that, i came to like Bluntnosed tools when doing roadside repairs on my bikes.

I bath my mt's in washing up liquid and bicycle oil, then wash off and dry, then I use nano oil for joints and tools, i've never in 16 years suffered rust issues with my lm's  :tu:

No, it came that way from nelly1974.  If I tried to do that, I'd probably end up grinding the whole blade off by accident...  :)  It is very well done, and works well.  :tu:

I cannot wait the new Surge, but I have a questions to all MUT and ST300 users.
What are your impressions regarding new plier head? Replaceable cutters are obvious advantage but how obout strenght? I hate the flex in my current Surge when you are trying to bend something. Are they much bigger/hard to work in small spaces?

Any thoughts would be nice.

I don't own a Surge myself, but I guess any flex would be in the handles, not in the plier head...

Plier head itself. It's longer than fe Charge so when you grab something thick that's sticking out and try to bend it to the side the "prongs" of the pliers start to offset.
Or when you reach for a nut from the top with plier tips and try to tighten it they will flex and slip.
I'm not saying Surge is soft, it happends when you really lean on it with both hands.
