I doubt they would be worth selling.

Someone here made their own version.

I believe Kam made one.  Duct tape would be a nice option for a simple effective sheath.

3 Surge pocket clips and 3 Style PS sissors springs.  How the heck did the clip bust?

Got a new Surge in black. But I saw  somewhere you are not supposed to do food prep with black Surge, as it is harmful to your health.
So could it be only used as outdoor tools? What if it is the Apocalypse, and the Surge is the only tool you have in your pcket, and caught some Trout from the pond?

Yes, you should not use black oxide coating to do food prep but if you did it’s not going to have a immediate effect or any effect you would probably notice for quite some time. If it came down to a apocolypse I think the black oxide coating would be the least of your worries.

Anyone else lose that stupid retaining spring for the bit driver?

This is one of the two reasons I was never into this tool or the wave, or some others. A survival tool, or even an "emergency go- to" tool, should not be designed where parts of it can ever "fall off" and get lot under the truck or in the woods on a mountain.

I went against my better judgement and nougat this used because it is otherwise robust, and the price was great.

My other reason for not being into this type of Leatherman is that I prefer my weapons to be weapons, and my tools to be tools. Having one-handed, outside accessible knives makes this a weapon first. But that's a story for another day.

Now that I have it, I really like it. But the bit driver sits useless. I bought a replacement set of bits, only to realize the spring is gone.

Anyone have a source for one of those?

Sorry I am a newbie in LM Surge, and just got one for myself.
But I am not sure what retaining spring, and how it could go missing.
I am looking at my Surge's bit driver holder, but I cannot see any spring.
I just got it new 2 days ago, and it all seems working OK.

But I cannot  see any spring in the bit driver holder on my Surge.

Could you please upload photos for it? Thanks.

I've read about that spring falling out a few times. But, with three New Waves, three Charges, and two Surges; I haven't had one go missing or fall out.

Maybe contact Leatherman and see if they will send you a couple of new springs? :)

What about opening the food cans with the BO Surge can opener, and eat the content then? Surely the BO can opener will be in contact with the food while opening?

Another thing - when tools arrive from the suppliers, they all have some type of oils on the blades. Should they be cleaned off in washing up liquid before using for food prep?

When BO tools are new they shed excess BO, they should be wiped or washed thoroughly and then pivots oiled. I don't think the occasional use of the can opener or the blade will do you any harm.
