The spring just quit contacting the blade and rendered them useless.

And did this happened both times
fail to prepare prepare to fail

Out of curiosity; what did you do that caused this to happen?

I opened the tool and tried to cut paper.

SO paper strikes again  I am guessing the rivet was loose of the scissors or else it would have surely cut paper :salute:

Yeah what cheat code did you use to make paper beat scissors in Rock, Paper, Scissors?

Joking aside; you are not the first person I have heard experiencing the scissors failing from cutting paper.....strange because I have never had any LM Scissors fail on me....I have even used the ones in my Surge for cutting wires and cardboard, and they didn’t break sweat

I'm guessing that it is the little nib on the plate that directs the scissors to do what scissors do.  Either that or perhaps I was trying to cut rock instead of paper in my own twisted game.

In all honesty, my scissors have always been kind of stiff...and I have always had to push the spring thingy into place manually every time I open it

I have gotten used to it now, and knowing I have to this, it’s not really a problem for me, but when I first got my Surge, I actually thought it was broken or something

How about if you open them like this?

It may not be obvious but I am pushing down on the nose of the scissors with my thumb at the end of the movement.

When I pushed that springy thing in place, it just slid back and didn't hold anything.

There's a little pin on the spring that sits in a tiny hole on the scissor frame. Probably that pin broke off. Mine broke. I just drilled and put in a pin myself. Nevertheless this failure is definitely a warranty material.

That's what I thought, so it's now in Portland (at least tracking showed that it arrived on Wednesday). No worries though, I have my Wave to use until it returns.

My replacement Surge arrived on Wednesday and I carried it yesterday and again today.  I received a new tool instead of the old tool with new scissors so I am very happy.  I like the upgrades from the first gen model I sent in.

Not going to go on a safari trip without taking my highly beloved LM Surge with me!

Atm, I happen to be at a place with WIFI, so I thought I’d check in.

So hello from Zimbabwe

Only been here a day and I have already used my Surge twice.....I just love my Surge!
