help on a new camera.
on: September 11, 2007, 12:29:27 AM
OK I got a new Nikon Didgi camera to replace my antique Kodak the only problem is I have no Idea now how to set the   camera for posting here. My old kodak just had to be set on the email mode and it posted just fine but thiis new one has just the numbrs on it. (2816. 2048.  1024.  and640) I really dont want to keep taking the same pic and setting the menu until it fits, so does anyone have any suggestions?

If you use Outlook Express for email, it's a simple matter to shrink them.  Find the pic, right click, send to, mail recipient, make my pictures smaller, then email them to yourself.  Outlook will automatically shrink them to 640x480 for you.

If that doesn't help, open them in MS Paint (included in all Windows versions) and go to Image, then stretch/skew, then type in a percentage in each box (you'll have to experiment a bit to get the right size) then save as and give it a new name.

I'm just glad that you managed to make sense of my suggestion... or are you just saying that to be nice? :P

Nope I understand. It seems that the new cameras have a huge book to explain them but the old didgi just had a page.

Kodaks are good like that- very easy to use, and very straightforward.  Unfortunately, not all cameras are like that.

What was the new one you picked up?

Here’s how I enhance and resize my pictures. I use Microsoft Picture Manager. If you have Microsoft Office 2003 or higher version installed, the MS Picture Manager is also installed in your computer.

1.   Make MS Picture Manager your default picture viewer
2.   Open any picture
3.   Click “Auto Correct” to enhance the color balance and brightness
4.   Click “Edit Picture”
5.   Click "Resize" and experiment with various percentages lower that 100%
6.   Click “Save As” in order not to replace or superimpose your original picture
7.   Check the size of the file or picture you just saved

It’s just a matter of experimenting for a few times to attain the right size of the picture you want.
