Aus Post and tales of disappointment
on: June 27, 2018, 02:50:31 PM
I have lost four packages this month.  :-\
Three of them are coin-related. I had ordered a coin lot but never got it. The postman updated it to 'delivered' though, so no money back from ebay. Still waiting for Aus Post for a refund. Another coin order was also lost, but the seller refunded me for it.

I had also ordered a pack of coin binder pages with big pockets, for those massive coins some countries have. I found an Australian seller, and was happy they'd arrive promptly, instead of having to order them from China and wait for two weeks. Well, jokes on me, because the package was lost. Had I ordered from China, I would have received the package and my large coins would have been organized nicely.

The fourth package was a multi-tool I really wanted to review.  Alas, the seller used a courier service, which is probably even worse than Aus Post, if you can believe it. As soon as my package arrived from Melbourne to Sydney, the updates stopped, and it has been sitting still at their depo. I also had the joy of having a representative of theirs hang up the phone on me. Nice of them. We'll see what becomes of it.

Out of respect for the postal workers world wide who give a rats arse, I'll refrain from saying exactly how I feel.  What I will say is, I sure hope you get some resolution.

I thought An Post was inefficient... at least they never lose things in my experience.
I once got a flashlight in a padded envelope with one end ripped open. Easy to take the box out. Everything was still present inside.  :salute:

Customs is also pretty scary to deal with. They open packages that have knives. I am ok with that, as long as they put everything back inside, and reseal the package properly.
When I received my Mora knives and a few other things, one Mora knife was put in its plastic sheath the wrong way, thus ruining the retention before I had even received it.
When I ordered my Ganzo multi-tool, they opened the package at the side, and then closed it with a strip of sticky tape so poorly, I could remove the contents without removing the tape.

But Aus Post is in a league of their own.

I've had much worse treatment from USPS than from AusPost.  That said, if the contents are rare and/or valuable I try to get most packages sent to me with tracking, signature of addressee only, plus insured.  I suspect the insurance payout and consequent questions are the main contributing factor to my mostly positive experiences with AusPost.

Aus Customs are usually the biggest holdup, and I expect MUCH longer holdups on all my international packages from 1 July 2018 onwards when they will be figuring out how to collect 10% GST on all packages (not just those with a value of over Au$ 1,000

That sucks, man! Be sure to file a complaint. Not in person, not over the phone, but in writing. Over here, they're forced to reply to any written complaint. Also, it stays in the complaint book forever.

I have a lot of respect or the good postal workers out there, especially because of the amount of crap they have to deal with thanks to the bad ones.

It's the same that happens when there's a bus strike. The poor wretch that is the only one working, out of 300+, not only is shunned by his colleagues but also has to listen the passengers saying "you smurfing smurfs should be fired, you're making life impossible for anyone needing to go to work!"

Man, you should be thanking him! He's working! It's the others that you should be complaining to!

Roxon Storm Review

Got to use the tool.

I think the AUS customs workers wanted to confiscate it because Taylor Brands knew it would make a better issued tool for the AUS Army than the Taylor Tough Tool, even being a Chinese tool too, and if the Australians realised that fact it would be the end of their contract so they boycott any tools from China arriving to Australia's borders  :ahhh :D

Just got a refund for it from Paypal.
Three refunds for the lost packages, and the multi-tool arrived. That'll do, pig. That'll do.
