The Jumbo versipack is good but I need a backpack for longer expedition, an all around backpack. Pictures are highly appreciated.

Personally, I prefer large messenger bags on planes.  Easier on and off, easier to access.

Timbuk2 has many different sizes (up to and even bigger than the legal limit for carryon)

I'll second the Pygmy Falcon II  :tu:

Just realised I have no pics of mine; I'll have to rectify that situation  :D

Have to say the new Maxpedition Noatak looks pretty good  :tu:
It is a gearlsinger, some like 'em some hate 'em. Not sure how much bigger it is over the Jumbo but it looks the part :D

Milspecmonkey has a good review

Yep. Pygmy Falcon II is a slim and narrow backpack that should go for what you want. The Notak is pretty small. It doesn't look it but monkey is a pretty small guy. I am one of those folks that don't like the gearslingers for large bags. With a moderate load they tend to be a pain in the neck, literally, after a while. I had a Lunada and after using it for a few school field trips and visits to theme parks I got rid of it.

  • I'm not all bad, I'm just drawn that way.
I agree totally. One strap bags are OK for light loads and short wear, but for anything else I need two.

I am currently modding a Lunada into a backpack as I love the bag but can't wear it for long!

PFII is a great bag  :tu:

I have a T.H.E. PACK http://specopsbrand.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=12 it works really well as an all around bag, i use it for everything, travel bag, hiking pack, book bag,  with the compression straps you can fill it to the brim and them compress it to just small enough to count as carry on, it is however about twice the size and cost of a Pygmy Falcon II

here some more if you curious

That I want to see! You need to start another topic on this subject! I would really like to see a version of the Lunada and Malaga with two straps!

Amici,
I have to chime in and add kudos to the Maxpedition gearslinger series.. Any of their models will get the job done but whatever you select unless you check a bag on a plane, DO NOT carry a knife in your bag unless you want a TSA agent to confiscate it where it'll be eventually listed on ebay and you'll have to bid to get your knife back.. That's unless someone else beats you too it!

Cheers,
Serge

@Mr. Whippy: Thanks will look it to it but hope you have pictures and review, it might look too yuppie?
@Mike, cerbera, TTF, nup, diabo and sergemaster: Thanks for the suggestion, I like the pygmy falcon II but have to look at other options, the gearslinger looks good but I have heard that it will hurt the shoulders and back in prolonged heavy load. Thanks again :)
PS Does the Pygmy have foilage khaki?

The larger Falcon II does if you can find one but not the Pygmy.
