I am not sure I could purchase from DE.  The reason is I hear these horror stories about them, and yet others love them.  I am just not conviened that there $4 flashlight could be made as well as my Fenix is.  I may be wrong because I buy my cellphone accessories from www.cellphoneshop.net and they are shipping from Hong Kong.  I will just have to give DE and a shot and see what happens.  I can say that I am a bit shocked however that (and I mean this jokingly) folks on here who want the best multi tool or SAK would buy a $3 DE flashlight.  After all, we are not buying those $3 made in China multi tools.....right?  :)
When In doubt, C4

One of the many examples why I refuse to buy from this place.

Buy from dealextreme and you are supporting tool counterfitters.  It's that simple.  Spend a few extra quid and support a company with a good rep

Someone else mentioned this on their comments;

Quote
The spike is clearly pasted on in photoshop. You can see white background highlighting the perimeter of the spike, and if you look closely, there's no corresponding hinge attaching it to the rest of the tool.

I wonder if the manufacturer did that or DX? I also wonder if the item comes with the spike and someone just didn't want to take new pics, or if they're trying to trick us on purpose?

He is totally right, why would they do that?  Is it a case of they couldn't be bothered to do a new pic? Weird.

No. That is a fake MP600 DET. The spike is not photoshoped.

I appreciate it is a fake MP600 DET and that this tool exists but I definitely believe the spike has been artificially added.

Look closer to the bottom of the spike, you can clearly see a white outline. Why would that be there?

It is not photoshoped because I have one, from a different source. But if you know what to look for, you will see that everything else is the same between the two...and these are details that are only the same on this particular copy. So no, that spike is real.

I don't think there is any debate whether or not it is available or not, only that that specific picture appears to have had the spike stuck on afterwards.  My monitor is cack to I can barely see the tool let alone any photoshopping.
I'm back!!

I still disagree. It is the lighting used. Clear as day.

It is not a shadow. If a light table was used, and due to its roundness...you can get that happening. It is called a halo effect.

But I am not going to continue to argue over something so minute.  :D

Carry on.  :salute:

I agree.

Looking at your pictures the way the spike joins the pivot is right - the "halo" is just some freaky lighting quirk.

I have to say after looking at your pics and looking at the 'hinge' your theory does weigh up but what is the white halo / shadow?

It's clearly the ghost of Gerber's profits  :ahhh

I have to say, I'm tempted to get that fake gerber just to see what it's like.

It is more fun if you have a real DET to do a side by side comparison. No telling on how durable the fake is, but they got it pretty close to the real deal shape wise. Tale tells are the painted on USA, and lack of the removable saw. Someone went to great length to copy it. Maybe they thought they could sell it for the price of the real DET which in my neck of the woods goes for around 90 bucks.
