New Sheath old design
on: September 15, 2010, 08:45:37 AM
Hi there.
This is the latest sheath I made using old design. It is custom made for LM Charge and it can accumulate WAVE as well.

Hope you like it.

That's quite tidy, It took me a minute to work out the second clip thing at the back...

In any case, can you give me any tips on sheath making? Not like that high quality work, but some basic leather/sewing suggestions? (I've tried a few times, but I'm a rank amateur, and end up just making "pancake" pockets.

Hi Monster

That's quite tidy, It took me a minute to work out the second clip thing at the back...

- The 2nd clip is to hold the cover when folded backward, it create a quick release belt loop.

In any case, can you give me any tips on sheath making? Not like that high quality work, but some basic leather/sewing suggestions? (I've tried a few times, but I'm a rank amateur, and end up just making "pancake" pockets.

- You can refer to this post for the step by step of making a leather pouch.

Thank you, very helpful!

I already have good needles and thread from sails, I'll need to get or make one of those bevel tools, is there anything special about the burnishing paste?

You don't need to use burnishing past. They do sell gum Tragacanth for the purpose, however all you need is a nylon/bone slicker and water. Rub furiously and you should get a nice edge. They sell a nylon slicker with rounded edges that you can attach to a Dremel. Takes a lot of the work out of burnishing edges.
