Mistaken PS4
Are you saying you bought it new and it came that way out of the sealed package?

I used my ES4 for a couple of month and i found it more useful than i thought it'd be.. anyways:

  • the scissors always impress me. they're better than many of my "regular" scissors. that surprised me
  • almost all the tools are just fine and the pliers are actually pretty good for the size
  • and i say almost because.. well, the main feature, the wire stripper, kinda sucks. they're useable but they don't work so well, specially the 2 smallest diameter. it seems they're just not sharp enough, and i don't know if i can sharpen them. my "real" wire strippers are 10 times more effective, by comparison

still love it tho.

I'm in with a black PS4. Used the cutters a couple of times so far for snipping the excess off of cable ties.
I think I have read of some people having quality issues with these, but I have to say that (although I have relatively little experience with multitools compared to many on here) I am quite impressed with the overall feel of this little tool. Probably more so that my Juice XE6 where everything seems either too looe or too tight. Like Goldilocks's porridge - the PS4 seems just right.  :tu:

Edit: I have also done a trial test of the bottle opener (cap lifter??) on a beer bottle. Because it is so small it took a few seconds to get it into position and latched in properly - but once it was it took the top off first time without problem.

Interesting stuff. Sorry, but I'm not quite sure I followed. Are people with PS4s with rivots expected to drill them out and replace them? Or are your things only for people with Torx hinged PS4s in the first place? Thanks.

I'm not quite sure I followed.

The torx flavor is no longer made, which means we want it more.  You always want what you can't have.  And guys like the torx flavor because its easy to disassemble.  But for most of us, we'll never disassemble our PS4 anyway, so it doesn't really matter if its held together with torx or rivets.

Correct, some still float around.

I am assuming that anyone who WANTS to do the mod, will buy their own new pivots and have some know how.

Finally got a PS4 last week.  At work I'm worried about carrying a knife.  I've never read anything prohibiting them, but I don't carry anything larger than what will fit on my keys just in case.  Normally this would be a Style CS, Micra and/or a Wenger Pocket Tool Chest.
Missing my otherwise ever-present Skeletool, I got the Squirt so I would at least have a hypothetical pair of pliers.  Nice little pliers too.  I love the blue handles.

Problem is, the Squirt is not as good as I've come to expect from Leatherman in regards to small tools. Big problem is that there is a lot of side to side play in the file and knife.  I think the rivet is loose and I will have to send this in for warranty.  My other issues are more nitpicky.  Scissors are loose when first opened but tighten and work great when under tension.  Shouldn't complain because they work, and were probably designed this way, but they're not as nice as the scissors on the Wenger.  The grinds on the drivers are uneven.  The Phillips driver is ground almost twice as far on the outside than on the inside.  Again, this shouldn't bother me, and probably wouldn't if it hadn't been for the Micra's perfect fit and finish.

I'm now realizing that I should have bought a Style PS, and carried that with either the Micra or the Pocket Tool Chest.  It would have been a bit cheaper too.  I've only ever read great things about the Squirt though, so please tell me if I'm way off base with my opinions here.

I love the PS4, but you are right, the scissors aren't its strong point. My Micra , Vic Classic SD, etc all are better in the scissors department.

I really do like the style /squirt scissors. They are sufficiently sharp for nail cutting and to most other scissor jobs well, if not very fast as they are small.

Here's my custom PS4

A Kydex sheath I made which I carry on my work keys. It's secure but when I need it, it's very accessible.
