I was thinking more along the lines of SwissTools and Spirits when I requested creation of this forum.

I read SOSAK at http://Knifeforums.com to get my "SAK fix."   :D

This forum is here by popular demand, and is in place to neither confirm nor deny any particular breed, race or ethinicity of any multipurpose instrumentation of any kind.  The Surgeon General advocates posting on Multitool.org as part of a natural and healthy diet.  Side effects may include loss of wallets and/or major credit cards due to excessive purchasing and can result in being prepared for any situation that arises.  The staff and management of Multitool.org are not responsable for lost or damaged goods, so please plier responsably.  This offer is void where prohibited, see your local retailer for details.

Hmmm.....Different tools for different jobs I guess. Also depends on the person. I gave a lady a purple Clasic, and now she can't figure out how she lived without it. Now she is eyeing my Cybertool. Did I just create another adict? >:D Anyway, a SAK rides in the pocket alot better than most multitools, so one on the belt, one in the pocket, and go take on the day!!!  ;)

I really don't see how you can't call something like the Swisschamp xlt a multitool.  It can do as much if not alittle more than a LM Charge.  The Charge has a bit driver, so does the SC XLT. The XLT even holds three more double sided bits on the tool. While the LM has the diamond sided file the file on the  XLT can hold it's own.  I like the XLT scissors over the LM's anyday. And the large flathead on both tools work equally well. Both tools have really good saws but I like the VIC can opener over the LM. Both tools have eyeglass screwdrivers that work good but the XLT's can be removed so it's easier to use. Now that brings use to the pliers. The Charge wins in that department hands down. But the XLT pliers are still usefull even if they aren't very big and strong. So after compairing all the implements on both tools the only thing the Charge has that the XLT doesn't is a serrated knife blade. But the XLT still has another 14. I don't think you can't call it a multiool just because it's not designed around full sized pliers.

Interesting point... I think the differentiation here is that a SAK is "based" on a knife, while the standard multitool is based on pliers.... at least in most cases, but then I voted NO on the SAK/Multitool poll...

I guess the bottom line about what you call them is effective.

I agree that they are both effective tools.  There have been a number of times were I had my Charge but wished I had my XLT. There is just not enough room on my belt and not enough pants pockets :D

Hmm... does the PocketGrip count as a SAK?  If not, then I don't have one either.

We'll have to start a club... Non Owners of Swiss Army Knives... or NoSak

With or without this forum it is clear that a SAK is a multitool.
But a multitool is not a SAK…  :D
