Make me! :viking:

OK, done. Where's my cookie?

Thank you, oh most Powerful Personage :)

I'm on a diet, so don't have any cookies on me at the moment, will a dog treat suffice ?   ;)  (I have lots of them, but it might be a bit smelly by the time it reaches you  :pok:  )

I'm not so sure, maybe if you only pretend to eat it and then secretly poison the bad guys with it  ???  ;)

Is any "powerful person" interested in updating post #1 in this thread ?  If they are, I can suggest a few more:

CE  Combo Edge (part-serrated, part plain knife blade)

PE  Plain Edge (knife blade)

SE  Serrated Edge (knife blade)

OHO  One Hand Opening (usually a knife blade but can be files etc)

OHT  Leatherman MT with "flicky" pliers

I did insert them into a quote ;) I'll add the different blades too..

And I'll add them to the list ;)

We use lot's of acronyms and abreviations, so I figured I'd try to make a list to help the newcomers, although I still probably have a few to learn as well. Please add to my list, and I'll update this post to keep them all in order.

Common Acronyms:
ALOX - Aluminium Oxide - Vic's (and Wengers SI) aluminium scaled knives (93mm and 84mm) have an Aluminium Oxide coating
BO - Black Oxide Finish
BOB - Bug Out Bag
CCW - Concealed Weapons Permit
CE  - Combo Edge (part-serrated, part plain knife blade)
CRKT - Columbia River Knife & Tool Company
EDC - Every Day Carry
FAK - First Aid Kit
FSP - Fisher Space Pen
GAK - German Army Knife
LM - Leatherman
MAS- Multi-tool Acquisition Syndrome
MT - Multi-Tool

OH/OHO - One Handed (Opening) (mainly knife blades)
OP - Original Poster (first poster in a thread)
OT - Off Topic
PC - Politically Correct
PE - Plain Edge (knife blade)PSK - Personal Survival Kit
SAK - Swiss Army Knife
SAKKO - Swiss Army Knife Knock-Off
SE - Serrated Edge (knife blade)SOG - Studies and Operations Group (Knife & Tool company)
SOSAK - Secret Order of the Swiss Army Knife
TGMTPT - The Great Multi Tool Picture Thread
Vic - Victorinox
VSAK - Victorinox
WSAK - Wenger
YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary = "That is my experience in my context, your experience/situation may well be different"

Some Specific Tool Models:
PST - LM's Personal Survival Tool
S2, CS4, KF4, XE6 - LM's Juice Series
P4, S4, E4 - LM's Squirt Series
Ti, XTi, TTi, AL, ALX - LM's Charge Series
CX - Skeletool CX
ST - (Victorinox) SwissTool or (Leatherman) Super Tool

OHF - Vic's One Handed  Fireman
TCP - Tool Chest Plus
XAVT, XL, XLT, XXLT - Large versions of Victorinox' SwissChamp
PPP - SOG's Pocket Power Plier
PPPD - SOG's Pocket Power Plier Deluxe
EVO - A style of Wenger tools
MP - Multiplier, for example Gerber's MP400/MP600
Champ - Victorinox SwissChamp

There, now if a more or less "powerful" person would stick them in the original post that would be cool :)

TLDR...

Seems to be missing some that frequently pop up in the forum:

NiB   - New in Box
BNiB - Brand New in Box

BIN - Buy It Now (referring to the Buy It Now price on eBay)

These happened to cause me lots of headscratching in the day :D

I wish that when you ran your cursor over an acronym that someone has typed it's meaning pops up in a little box.
(would save searching on this thread)

Excellent Idea!  I've seen a directory on line of such acronyms, but a smart phone ap would be excellent. Could also be done as software pgm on a computer. The thing like it here, is putting the cursor over the members flag, esp if you can't see the flag well, and getting a verbal name in a box. That I can do!

It was mentioned before but, as it does apply to a SAK and a GAK, and others, It (these colors' acronyms) should be included in your acronym list. IMHO!

That is:  OG = Olive Green,  (Circa WWII) Gloss, I believe, as distinguished from other "Greens" used on SAKs.
OD = Olive Drab,   (Circa Korean, perhaps before then, certainly Viet Nam era) A non-reflective Military Green. Our generation often uses OD in place of OG.
And, in fact "Camo", although not technically an acronym, is also applied to SAKs.
OG and OD are often interchanged, in the vernacular. I would use the OD for your SAK list.
Olive Green, and Tan, are the most abundant colors on SpaceShip Earth

Colors also used on SAKs, for the US Flag, Technically called "Old Glory", are:
              OG-Red
              OG-White
              OG-Blue
In fact, anyone duplicating the US Flag, is required by U.S. Law, to use these colors, on flags for Government, Military and other legal applications. The rest of the world could probably care less. I would suspect that the Swiss, would follow this recommendation, on their knives' scales, out of respect, as they are our Allies. I believe these (OG-) colors are used on a few other countries' flags also. A good question for Mr Elsener, or the "factory".     Je ne sais quoi!

Og is also used here sometimes to denote the Original version of an Mt eg Og Wave as distinct from the New (version of the) Wave.

NIC = New In Clamshell (packaging)

JPST = Japanese Pocket Survival Tool (made by Leatherman)

Og is also used here sometimes to denote the Original version of an Mt
I just can't agree with the logic there. It should be just "O" unless "OG" stands for "Original Generation".

I didn't say it was logical or made sense, but (like many words and phrases in the English language) it is what it is by common usage (which always trumps logic, consistency, "correctness" etc) , whether we like it or disagree strongly or whatever.   ;)

Just discovered this useful thread

I reorganised the first post a little (added a couple of sections and some additional entries) and renamed the thread everso slightly
(see earlier posts for original name - I think 'ect' means Electro Convulsive Therapy!!)
