Can't resist - going to order a new iPad Touch
on: September 11, 2010, 08:01:15 AM
I have a 5 year old iPad Nano that I use in the garage as well as in the truck ( GM's have an AUX receptacle  on the radio so you can use the audio system to play tunes from an iPad ).  Leaning towards the 32GB size, you can never have too many toys.
Why do I carry a 45 ?
Because they don't make a 46 !

Go for it the bigger the memory the better, you could up load movies and watch in on the tiny screen too if you don't mind the tiny screen :)

iPod, I already have an iPad, sorry,

CNN reports today (  October 5, 2010 ) on the findings of Bernstein Research analyst Colin McGranahan, who says that customers are adopting the iPad faster than any other consumer electronics device, including Apple’s own iPhone and the DVD player. According to McGranahan, Apple is currently shipping approximately 4.5 million units per quarter, beating the 1 million per quarter of the original iPhone, and the 350, 000 per quarter of DVD players when they first went on sale.

And the news gets even better for Apple, with McGranahan predicting that if it continues to sell at the current rate, it could make $9 billion per year, exceeding the annual sales figures of games consoles and cell phones on its way to becoming the fourth biggest consumer electronics category, tucked in neatly behind TVs, smartphones and laptops. iPads are now down to $449 on www.apple.com on their STORE / SAVE - SPECIAL DEALS page.

Get the most GB as possible is my motto. I've got 32gb on my iphone and I wish it was 64, I have to move stufff in and out cause its maxxed out, Just got a buch ogf games from the new sale they have and have to rack my brain to figure out what to remove to get the new stuff on, while keeping a good deal of music and a few movies.

640k should be enough for anybody... :D

Seriously, that's one of the biggest problems with the iPhone, iPad and iTouch- there's no external memory options.  All the music, movies etc I have are on external hard drives, flash drives or memory cards.

Partially true - ALL photos can be kept on a XD card and utilize the connector with a card reader ( Apple connection kit which also includes a external USB port) .

I watch my videos at home utilizing AirVideo application which allows me to keep all my videos on my desktop and stream them to my iPad.

iPad only has 256k of memory, because the apps are so small and Cocoa apps they don't require that much memory. GEN2 iPad will have more memory a built in mini USP port, front + rear cameras, and much more.  Due out May 2011. The  OS will  4.2, same as the other Apple devices, will be released next month.

I have over 100 apps, 500 songs, TV shows, Podcasts, youtube videos, couple full length DVD's to watch when in the car ( not driving )), Skype and I have close to 9GB free on the iPad . My Avalanche and Traverse have a built in AUX plug so I can listen to all my music on the vehicles audio system.

For reference, I have like 170 Apps, 3,350 songs 3 movies and a bunch of photos and almost no space left on my iphone . I also have an older Ipod classic with about 65 GB of music that I take along on car rides for more variety. But honestly, with all the free music apps, there is literally a radio station in my hands. Check these if you dont already use them: Pandora, slacker, AOL radio, Wolfgangs vault, Last FM, NPR Music, Sticher, Iheart radio....all free and provide tons of music, actual radio stations from across US and podcasts

It may cost a little more to get the larger storage , but you may want/need the extra room in the future.

I think that advice applies not only to the iDevices but just about every electronic device that I've ever owned w/ storage I almost always regretted not getting the max amount.

There will always be something that breaks.  You may have gotten one of 5 bad ones out of a million off the assembly line for all we know but from electronics to multitools there are always casualties.
