One of a series of Leathermans that an eBay seller decided to paint. He still sells the odd one, but mostly carbon fiber Micras.

I liked his stuff, so I was one of his best customers snatching most of his wares, which I think were mostly one offs.

Here are two older photos. The painted camo ST is on the right.

I've just seen an original Super Tool SS with a plier head stamped "Leatherman Tool" rather than the usual "Leatherman USA" (on eBay).

Any thoughts on the likelihood of it having originally left the factory with that plier head, or maybe it was added later (either by LM as a repair or just someone slightly handy with knurled screws) ?

Hmmm, I see what you mean. Very interesting. The Super Tool was replaced by the Super Tool 200 in 2001, which was prior to the whole lawsuit fiasco that resulted in Leatherman using the word TOOL instead of USA on their plier heads.

So, one theory would be that somebody sent their old broken ST in for warranty repair, and the service guys replaced the original plier head with one from an ST200.

But that's only a theory.....

It would be interesting to know what the handle date codes are.
