Heh, that's cute.  What size batteries are those?

I've got one of those doggie capsules floating around here somewhere.  Was kind of intending on turning it into a quick detach for my keyring, but just haven't had the wherewithal to do it.
Half-ass done wholeheartedly!

I think the rather sexy  Firefli ZA-4 had that concept already nailed years ago, sadly not available any more though :(

Measured 38mm x 7mm but that also includes the hole at the top which was perfect for hanging on a chain round your neck. It is also corrosion proof, waterproof and virtually indestructible.

Good review here: http://www.imagometrics.com/FLReviews/FireFli_1.htm

Last year someone at CPF starting making the TiFli too which are a tad bigger but come in lots of groovy finishes. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=231369

For a "real" light that fits a keychain IMO the streamlight nano is more than small enough and much more sanely priced

I prefer the cheap fauxton ones - currently costing me about 27p each from HK and they have momentary on or switched on. As yet, I've never had a dud or had one fail on me.
I'm always giving them to people who are impressed how bright they are and then getting feedback about how often they use it! :)

I have a Streamlight too but it's much more fiddly to turn on being a twisty, and a lot more money too.

Not cheap perhaps, but I'm thinking that there is as much work (if not quite a bit more) as goes into an Atwood and most folks don't seem to find them over-priced.

Absolutely, and Peter Atwood was one of the many people who bought one too! ;)

Actually (like I keep saying  :D) Atwoods, the regular ones at least, are generally priced at half that - so I would still call that pricey myself.  Nice piece though.

Nice job there Andreas  :tu:

Talking about little lights
Can someone remind me please
Somewhere I have seen a great little LED light that just snaps on to the top of a 9v battery (the kind they use in smoke detectors)
Any one know what I'm talking about Or where to get them?

I have a bunch of those as well, love them. Give them out to people. I prefer the Streamlight myself though, it's brighter for one, better build quality, and for me it's less bulky to hang on my neck lanyard

Well, the people who buy them don't find them overpriced otherwise they wouldn't have bought them. I don't think you need to look far amongst most people to find a majority that think the price is ridiculous. Same for the Atwood products. In every hobby/product category there is high priced products that cater a much smaller niche than most consumer products. Nothing wrong with that of course.

Nice job there Andreas  :tu:

Those are pretty ease to make, all you really need is two 9V batteries and two white LEDs that can handle 4.5V (or t3 that can handle 3V). Split open one battery and remove the 6 AAAA batteries inside, then you have a casing for your light, and all you have to do is connect your LEDs in a series.
