Vic Seaman and Sailor, brass liners standard?
on: September 18, 2010, 07:52:27 PM
I just got a Vic Seaman and a Sailor at our local shop. At home I found out that they both have brass liners. Couldn't find anything online about that, so does anyone here know if they all came with brass liners or if I got something special?
Thanks.

A lot of alox knives have been available with brass liners.

By the way, you really should go back there and buy all their old Alox SAKs! I would be happy to buy a couple from you :)
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Many alox SAKs were made with brass and nickel silver liners.  I haven't been able to pin down a period of change though, I think they may have used them as the mood took them :D

Don't buy all their alox but do buy all the ones with marlin spikes.  We're not being funny, they are worth much more than €19.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I guess I have all with marlin spikes that they had. They didn't had any other Alox models in their display, and they wouldn't have bothered to take them off their locked display if they had any one left in their drawer (which they checked before they went off to get the key for the display). One Seaman and one Sailor, both with brass liners, both without box, that's all they had.

I checked ebay today and found one finished auction on a Sailor. I couldn't believe what the winner paid for it  :ahhh Now I really have to think about what to do next. I want to keep the Seaman, I really like that knife. But the Sailor...

I will take pictures later. Was out the whole day birdwatching, and not sure about tomorrow. But monday.

The best thing to do is to PM Neil for a little advice, before doing anything..  ;) :tu:

Good idea. I definitifely need to know more about them. I bought the Seaman just because I liked the idea of having a marlin spike for paracord work and maybe for climbing, and because it was a red alox model. Never had one. And it wasn't expensive. Didn't know it was something special.  :ahhh

What you should do is put them away. Seriously, they are going for crazy prices on eBay.

If you're having troubles, I can get someone pregnant and send you the child in exchange for marlinspikey alox goodness.

You and I had similair experiences... except I knew what they were going for on ebay (not that I think the recent prices were realistic).  I recently picked up some spikers for a typical retail price.  Just for the record the seaman and sailor had brass liners and spacers.

Still looking for any of these...but not at eBay prices.

Sellers are now starting their listings at 200+ USD.  :o
