Leather Curving Diary cover
on: September 20, 2010, 05:12:02 AM
Dear all

I made myself a leather cover with some curving for my daily use oranizer (diary). This is the real 1st attemp on leather curving using real tools and method. I didn't take the initial steps' photos such as tracing on leather, cutting the shape. etc.

Finished curving and detailing with black dye. I do not have the proper dye material (solution - brown color), so I just used some KIWI shoes polish to do the job.

The inner part of the dairy using kidskin.

The stitching process

The finished look of the dairy

Same time I also made a leather knife with a wood planner blade, I pimped it with mosaic pin and leather cover.

Hope you enjoy watching it.

Good job.  :tu:

EDIT: Forgot to add that the carving and tooling is where I get most of my enjoyment when working leather.

Also, it is "carving" in this case, not "curving".  Though frankly if you keep doing lovely work like that, you can call it whatever you like :)  Is the flower based on a real flower?
Half-ass done wholeheartedly!

I better make myself a leather rope to hang myself for the mistakes..

Flower copy from some leathercraft magazines..I'm not good in drawing.

I can't speak a word myself. So your English isn't all that bad now is it?  :D

I have seen your sheaths you have posted, and they are very nice.  :salute:

I haven't done a piece of leatherwork in a while. Too busy with other things...but it is always there and I will get back to it when the time is right.  :)

Watch out Frog, you can easily spend 4K on leather crafting tools. It isn't a cheap vocation or hobby to get into.

Here are two small change purses I had done for gifts a few years back.

Your work is just beautiful, landroza! It's amazing what you do with leather. I am sure I couldn't do that...

(And your purses look great too, Chako!)
