I just received my Swiss Cheese Tool yesterday in the mail.  I was in Switzerland last month and I saw the display in all the cheese and knife shops, so it was a mission for me to get this new knife.  I sent in the UPC codes and 20 francs with my US address and they shipped it first class to me.  I am shocked they sent it. :climber:

mine showed up today.  :mail
others already have better photos, but here are a few alternative angles:

here you see the different blade shape in comparison to another 111mm. The tang also has 'patented' on it

I was originally trying to get a lower camera angle on the cheese to evoke the monolith from 2001: a space odyssey, for extra profundity, but it didn't work. Anyway cheese knife works.

here the lock mechanism. The package underneath, unfortunately with a customs sticker on it, but still pretty impressive that first class postage is included in the cheap price. This has got me more enthusiastic about 111mm SAKs, one of those dual pros would be cool.

As per his message; it sounds like he sent in the proof-of-purchaces to SCM in Bern with 20CHF as per the adverisements from SCM.

Ok, here's the idea of the century:

1. We all send money to a MTo member
2. He orders a giant supply of cheese from Switzerland
3. As soon as he receives the package (can we still call it 'a package', when it's that big?) he sends us the knives but...

...here comes the best part...

...HE CAN KEEP THE CHEESE! ALL OF IT!

Sounds reasonable?

Might I recommend that the people in the group also toss in an extra couple dollars so a sufficient amount of prunes may also be purchased?  Kinda need to counteract the blockage caused by that much cheese, after all. o.o;

I'm quite happy to keep on buying swiss cheese, and sending off for more knives. I'm just wondering if they will be annoyed if I keep doing it, how do they make a profit with this, is the knife only worth the 20francs we send to them, or is the profit annulled by the postage fees?

The swiss prune knife sounds somehow less inspiring for me. Reminds me of the joke: "Q: how did the mathematician get rid of his constipation? A: the same way he solved all problems, sat down and worked it out with a pencil."

I think you will find that the Swiss Cheese association or whatever organization the knife was commissioned for, are probably footing much of the bill. After all, this is good advertizing. The knives are emblazoned with logos for them, and the packaging is the same. You even have to eat Swiss Cheese to get them...most of the times.

The pencil joke...loved it. :D

yeah, its a nomad I won in one of Neil's giveaways a while back.

must be difficult to quantify the success of an advertising campaign. It would take a long time to really assess if cheese sales have gone up over the time that the cheese knife has been available, and to separate it from all of the other potential confounding variables.

I saw that one yesterday too. As much as I would like to buy the cheese knife, $60 is way too much if you ask me :)

I want that knife so bad. If it's still on Ebay after Christmas I'm going for it.
Hell I'd pay $80 plus shipping.

Me too!  A knife I wanted them to make for a long time. Would be a really nice picnic knife.   :tu:

The Swiss Cheese sak look awsome. The new blade looks sharp -wonder how sharp it is.
Here is another one on ebay:

If it had a "buy it now" I would grab it, but I'm not paying more than $60 for one.  ::)

Yesterday I got a kind letter from Switzerland Cheese Marketing.

They told me the Cheese knife I ordered lately would arrive in a few weeks.
They were very surprised by the high demand.  :o
The first run of 30'000 knives is already sold out!!!

Now they wait for a second run which Victorinox should deliver next week.

I suppose it's only a matter of time before this gets out, but for those of you that want this knife, it should be going into production and be imported into North America and other markets this year.
