L. L. Sabo Fontenille Knife....help?
on: October 01, 2010, 06:58:02 AM
Anyone ever hear of a cutlery company called L. L. Sabo Fontenille?  The main blade has that name on it as well as an emblem looking like a dutch clog.

Thanks

It looks like a lot of the French SAKalikes you see.  I've had a few pass through my hands over the years.  Don't recognise the company on the blade though.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

It seems pretty old...there was a lot of pettina (sp??) on the blades.  I don't know how to tell if it is real pearl though.  Not sure if this knife is a good find or cheap fodder?  Thanks Neil!

I would try posting it over at Blade forums in Bernard Levine's sub-forum.

Fontenille's an old-school French maker, made some pretty nice stuff and some pretty mediocre stuff.  It's entirely possible that the handles are MOP, you might want to get them tested.

The spelling is "patina".
