Swisstool X or Spirit X

Which do you prefer?
I am looking in to getting a Swisstool, and I am deciding between the Spirit X and Swisstool X.  For me, weight is not a concern, and I need scissors. X model because I want one blade, not 2.

Spirit X

Swisstool X

I would say go with the Spirit. (I'm sure most will agree)
The overal package is tighter and yet the tools are just as good, in some cases the Spirit tools are actually beefier than those of the original Swisstool.
The comfort and ergonomics of the Spirit make all the difference and like I said, as far as the individual tools there is no compromise.
Only thing the Spirit lacks is a ruler. That was my biggest issue when deciding which one to get.
Good choice with the X. I have a Spirit X myself and I use that strait blade allot, I use the scissors allot too.
There are a few sxs comparison reviews kicking around the web and Youtube is a great way to get a feel for the tools.

Trust me man, I was on the fence about this one for a long time and did allot of research but in the end the Spirit is better in almost all respects.

What about the scissors? The spirit scissors are the only thing keeping me away really, they look like the SOG scissors that everyones hates so much. Also are the pliers needle nose on the spirit unlike the blunt on the swisstool.

It's true the scissors dont open as wide but they feel more durable.
There was a thread recently comparing the Spirit snips to those of regular SAKs. might be worth a read.
In my opinion the narrow opening doesnt really make allot of difference unless you're cutting a really big sheet of paper or something, for most things its about the same amount of cuts.

This is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. I think most consider the Spirit to be in the same class as the Wave/Charge line. The Swisstool is larger, and competes with the Surge and ST300. The reason why Vic hasn't gotten rid of the Swisstool is that the newer Spirit doesn't really compete with it.

Also, looking at your picture, your Spirit isn't an X.

I have no idea what you prefer, but I'll take any Swisstool Spirit over any regular Swisstool.  You just have to decide if you can handle evolution or are more comfortable with the dinasaurs.   :o    :multi:

The only difference between the regular Spirit and the X is the blade. Regular version has a serrated sheepsfoot style blade and the X has a strait edge drop point.
There's also an S model which has both blades but no scissors.

Tricky if weight is not a problem  . I love my Spirit X with the proper main blade & scissors , but if I got a Swiistool as a user (I have 3 non users  ??? ??? :D :D :D) I would get the Swisstool X. Agent you need to decide on HEAVY duty or just heavy duty  :P :D :D

Swisstool if you don't care about weight, the scissors are way better.

I LOVE the Vic Spirit and it's one of the tools in my EDC rotation but if weight/size isn't a concern I would always go for the bigger tool. I have 2 of them, they are the tools I keep in my cars.

I will probably end up getting both at one point or another for the collection, but I would edc this one in a bag if it was a swisstool, or a pocket clip if the spirit.  I just can't find a cheaper spirit x than the swisstool x on eBay from gad-zooks.
EDIT never mind

I'd go for the Swisstool X, as I prefer to have as bulletproof tool as possible (not that the Spirit is exactly weak of course) :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Not that I've owned a Swisstool, but from handling them I gotta say I prefer the feel of my Spirit when being used as pliers.  BUT! I'm not a huge fan of the scissors, so if they're truly important to you the Swisstool might be a better option IMO.  Not saying they're bad scissors, just that Vic's other offerings are better.

I got ST Spirit X and LOVE it... Done some mid to serious work with it and... Well what can I say... It is flawless, smooth and user friendly  ;) ! My next stop is ratchet, and then SwissTool X with wrench. Not that I have something against ST Spirit, just to have something for EDC rotation!! They both are excellent MT's and you can go wrong ither way!

If you can, try to handle both tools. I've had both the Swisstool X and the Spirit X, but found the Swisstool to be too big for my small hands.

The Spirit was perfect, and I now have 3.

Which do you prefer?
:ahhh

I own a Spirit (not an X though) and it is simply fantastic. Perfect tools, perfect steel, perfect ergonomics.
I've been working with a Swisstool X and loved the fact that it felt a bit (but just a tiny bit) stronger.

So, which one do I prefer?

 :ahhh

I have handled a regular swisstool, (non X) but haven't handled a spirit.  I might actually go for the regular spirit, as they are less expensive, and the "buttuer knife' is less threatening, I also have a SAK for cutting, my Wenger Evo s10.

This has pretty much convinced me that I need a Spirit X, anyone know of the cheapest place to get one? (gad-zooks is pretty cheap, but the $14 aussie shipping kind of sucks)

Or if anyone has one that they want to sell :)

I got my one from Tim 8) 8) 8) , the good/bad thing with buying from Tim is you can pick up plenty of 'extras' to fill out the parcel, $14 for shipping too Oz from the US is average mate. My last 2 purchases the sellers wanted $35us & $37.50us too ship too Oz ,they were small MT's. I organised a US 'middle man'  ;) :D
