Check out the top right corner of the forum- near where the banner ads are!   :D

Don't say that too loud... those are the folks that keep this site free for members!

For reference, the advertisers are:

www.EDCDepot.com
www.felinevet.sosakonline.com
www.hand-tools.com
www.gerber-tools.com

thank very much boss, I wanted that!

Many sites have so many flashy/slightly distracting things and more and more people are using it. I've seen some places/sites
that have a special room(s) for ads and site friendly places (hint hint) I really like that, going to the source! :)

I hate sites that are too hard to read or take ages to load because of banners, popups and other imbecilic things.  I try to keep the ads here pretty low key, and we work with the advertisers to do more involved promotional things rather than just stick up a banner and ignore each other until it's time to renew.

Dealers get much more out of a relationship with the community than they ever will with flashy and obnoxious ads that piss people off.

G'day blokes and blokettes, just spent an hour or so reading the forums and thought I might join up to say howdy.

I'm a bit new meself to this Multitool game.

My first "Multi Tool" was a Sailors knife of the Folding Blade and Marlin Spike variety back when I was knee high to a duck(Edit: Wait, my first multitool was probably a Screwdriver/Shackle Key combo), I've gone through a variety of Wenger, Victorinox, and Imitation folding tools since then.

In the last few years I've "Graduated" to the Plier-style multi-tool, with PST Imitations of varying quality
I recently acquired a Leatherman "Core" (After much indecision between the Famous Leatherman option and the Swisstool from a company that has served me well over the years*)

Despite having a "Genuine" LM, my "EDC" conists of a yachtsmans knife (I like having a blade without a sharp tip for safer use in general cutting applications) and a Bahco Multitool  - This is partially because I like the Cork Screw, and partially because I am too nancy to risk losing my Leatherman

If/When my current Knife is lost/damaged beyond use, I'm thinking to get a Victorinox Nomad** - The same features as the original "Soldier" Model with a Locking blade (a must!) and a corkscrew.
I have a VSAK "Climber" - and while the Hook is surprisingly useful, I rarely carry it as it is not slim enough to comfortably have in my pocket.

*The deciding factor was one of $$$, given the choice as a gift, I probably would have gone SwissTool.

**The name being a mere curiousity.

Well, it's 1-am so I'm off, I look forward to spending some more time here and reading more of these excellent tool-reviews!

Arse Trailer.  :) (That works best if you have a Canadian accent)

I sell Leatherman, so it was also just real convenient to grab one out of the case.

Despite routine abuse off knockoff Multitools (Which I like to think epitomise the laziness of the modern man. Why should I have to walk all the way to my shed/on board tool drawer when I can do a half arsed job with what is in my pocket) I don't have much in the way of particularly heroic or ingenious stories.

Now, someone point me to the place where I can demand a decent Awlspike on all tools and express interest in a tyre gauge.

Them both sound like good topics to debate. Best to start a new thread right in the General Tool Discussion forum at the top of the front page.  :)
