Greetings from London, UK.

I started off looking for a multi tool because my wife wanted me to tidy up my tool boxes and get rid of the old stuff.  In exchange for discarding some old items I thought I'd get a multi tool, that was close at hand and would stop me having to pull out my tool box (we live in a small flat, and stuff has to be packed away into the back of cupboards).

Leatherman Wave was my first choice, but it's not EDC in the UK because it has a locking blades.  I liked the look of the SOG PowerLocks, and the ability to remove the knife, but still in UK if the long metal pieces lock or cannot return to closed position then it's a risk to carry EDC.

So I got a LM S2 orange  Juice.  Actually I first got one for my father for his birthday, and I liked it so I got myself one.  It arrived today, and the bit kit should be here soon too!

Howdy from deepest Mexico
Reply #996 on: May 04, 2017, 05:00:23 AM
Well, howdy there.  Actually it's not DEEPEST Mexico, just 1000 miles south of the border.  Me and the little woman moved to wonderful Todos Santos, near the end of the Baja Peninsula 8 years ago and have been busily retired since then. I didn't know that I had a "carry" knife 'till I started reading this cool forum, but I've always has some kind of knife or other. Last 10-15 years it's been a Tinker or something similar.

I freaked out a couple of months ago and started bidding on SAK lots on ebay, winning quite a few.  Unfortunately these are all shipped to our old home place in Mendocino, CA, and I can't get my hot little hands on 'em for another month or so, when we travel back to the States. I've done a few experimental scale "makes" and found it's pretty fun and easy to do. I've been a woodbutcher for 50 something years and making scales out of our local mango, teak, eucalyptus, ironwood, etc. it really neato. It's challenging to be working with such a precision thing as a Swiss army knife - like, in thousandths rather than 1/16" as in wood.

So, here's a question - where can I get the small parts that make up the interiors of these cool knives?  I'm looking for 91mm parts like pliers, metal saw/file, brass studs (rivets?), etc. I know a helpful member is gonna say "just tear one apart and use those parts" which I may have to do but if possible would like to get those little bits and bobs without thrashing yet another descent knife.

Thanks much, guys.  I really enjoy this forum.  Also, checkout the FaceBook forum called Cellidor SAK's

Hi everyone,

I signed up to the Forum this morning.
I'm interested in knives since a young age and started collecting some years ago.
Lately I started restoring SAK's and generally streamlining my collection.
I'm looking forward to reading this Forum.

Kind regards from Switzerland,

Lieutenant.

Halloo from New England town.

Signed up some hours ago after checking in time and again for reviews and other information.

Been through some SAK' s...Camper, Hiker, Huntsman. All gone. Broke the red scales off all of them. I do still have my Tinker Deluxe, but again, with the red only intact on one side...So went in for the Leathermans PST ii, Micra, two Original Super Tools, as there is no attached grip to break off.

I hike with my Beagle, we camp, I fish, I sometimes use it for quick access to a tool while working on my beater old truck, fixing a door hinge or something In the house, and repairing network connections and computers at work.

Somehow I feel myself slowly sliding into a funk where I need to own more of Leatherman, even though I have three carry tool boxes full of Craftsman and a bag full of Bucks and Stanley...

Um...this IS the support group for that, right?

Hi from the uk. Never thought I was in anyway a collector, but from age 10 or so always carried a knife of sorts and each few years progressed to a bigger better one, then I joined the RAF as an engineer and we weren't allowed our own tools, but  I kept buying for my personal car tinkering. Posted to Goose Bay, Labrador started my Leatherman collection, PST, supertool, the. Back in the uk, a few waves, a micro, a few tiny ones for the kids and a lovely supertool 300 as a replacement for my worn out original. My favourite at the moment is a c33t small, sharp and the screwdrivers are excellent.
Can't really carry it here in the U.K, but its in my dog walking pocke and despite the knife laws here drawing so much attention, the knife, multitool market seems thriving enough to make me buy knifes I fancy.
Anyway enough waffle, this forum sucked me in from reading the modding SAKs posts and it looks great so far.
Cheers
Steve
