Christmas Came Early This Year
on: October 24, 2010, 04:11:26 AM
Christmas really did come early for me this year, I think Santa started deliveries in February, after taking a small brake from December.  I've not had time to show all the goodies or to talk about the fun I've had opening the packages and investigating the contents.  Hopefully I'll be able to share more in the near future as the seasons change.  I still have some nice surprises to arrive before end of the year but today was kind of special.  The last BIG box unpacking (as near as I can determine), and I decided to document it a little more and savour the moments.  Today has been a SAK day in heaven... is there any limits to how much fun one can have in a single day?  You may have seen some of my early photos from today, I started at 4am since I knew it would be a long glorious day.  I saved the biggest box for last, not because I like big things; but because so many little things can fit in a big box.  I'm sure this will just wet your appetite and maybe sharpen your SAK vision.  If you can imagine it, I've have more than one day like this recently.  My life needs lots of help, but there are moments when you'd never know it.  Usually I try to help Santa out Jan.-Nov. while he's busy with other things, but this year I think I'll be helping him in December.

  Well you know I had to go check.  Yup Yamaha KX-580 and it's still connected, and I even have a backup in my car.

The knife in that package is the Spartan with the William Tell & son inlay.

Just finished inspecting and recording them (34 presents), now it's time for coffee and maybe breakfast.

Well the knife is sealed so I didn't check, but are you saying you have a 84mm Sportsman with the William Tell inlay?

About the pictures.... sorry folks I was supposed to go into work yesterday.... still have not got there.... pictures might take a while.  I'll see if I can do a simple flash photo of some of them lined up or something.  Just think though; as the pictures do start to appear they will keep you warm over the winter months.

Yes, that's correct. Seller thought it was a Spartan though.

Very interesting, I was going by the picture... I'll have to check I think I can get in there undetected.

I notice now it looks like the William Tell is not an inlay, but a screen print of the image... looks like they made a cheap version as well as the good ones.  Is yours printed logo of inlay?

They also were very tricky in how they sealed up the box... it's going to be more tricky than I thought.

By golly joe you're right!  It's a Sportsman wo/keyring.  Looks like I can call them to task for false advertising. ha ha.  Maybe the picture was an approximation who could say the pen-blade was not a nail-file from the picture (me that who).  Oh well I'm guessing the the 91mm knives get the inlay and the 84mm got the print.  I like the sportsman, but I wanted the inlay... the hunt is back on.

Thanks for the questions, it might have taken me months to discover that.

I don't know if it's an inlay or a prited logo. I will check later today!
I contacted the seller (local hardware store) and told them about their false advertising ;)

And congratulations on your 1000 posts

One interesting knive in the box was this 91mm Rucksack model.  The tool configuration matches a knife I pulled out of a box labeled (in much the same way) a "Picknicker".  This could be a problem with boxes, not sure, or simply a changing of the naming in ther US.  These knives also fit in with the Original Outdoorsman, which adds scissors and file.  One source indicated that the Picknicker should not have the Woodsaw or Camping logo.  This would make these three knives fit together very nicely in the Victorinox line.  Does anyone have any information on these three knives?
