Piercings.
on: November 02, 2010, 10:42:32 PM
I've been thinking a long time about getting a ring or horseshoe pierced in my septum and on thursday I'm going to have it done  :ahhh I'm going there with a friend since we are in town anyway so it might as well be there.

Anyone got some tips or such?

And just so the topic isnt all about me if you got a piercing then tell about the experience and post a picture if you want
(Keep them appropiate)

Will post pictures when I get mine!

Eek, why would anybody go voluntarily stab holes in themselves.

Ditto, perhaps you could relate some of the thought process that goes into a decision to have such a body modification?

I had my ear pierced three times- it kept growing over.  The last time I said to Hell with it and let it grow over.

As for why someone would voluntarily do it, well it makes more sense than doing it involuntarily!

I looked into surface piercings (because I am weird) but was worried they'd get ripped out at work.

I had both my ears pierced about 5 years ago, and I gauged them to a 10 gauge.  The piercing didn't hurt a bit but stretching it sure as smurf did!  I don't think I could pierce anything else though, I would be afraid of snagging.

i had my ears and tongue and nipples done.  hands down my nips hurt the worst.  even after all my tattoo's the amount of pain for 2 small needles was by and large the single most painful thing i have felt.  that being said more power to you for what your getting :)

I was at a party a couple of years ago and for no reason at all a guy that I was in the same class with at elementary school whipped out his slong with a Prince Albert. God that looked painful!!!

When I got my Prince Albert, left nipple and septum done I was lucky enough to have a good friend do them. A good friend with Lidocane. The nipple hurt the worst for healing, the septum the least. The septum hurt like a bitch getting numbed out. Basically I had to hold still as the needle was inserted, then angled, then inserted deeper. THEN the pain killer was introduced. The only suggestion I have other than to keep it clean and follow your piercers instructions is to decide what gauge you actually want. Personally I feel the septum is a more masculine piercing and really anything under a 10 gauge looks wimpy. Again, just my personal thought. That's why I had mine done AT a six gauge. Sounds insane, and it kinda is. But believe me, you will much rather get a bigger initial piercing than stretch it.

Don't know but it's thicker than that.  And it hurts like the dickens to get it done.  You have to pierce at 18 gauge, then stretch to a 16, then to a 14, then a 12, and then a 10.  Do it that way, believe me it is better than how I did it.  I skipped the 12 and went from a 14 to a 10 and the resulting pain gave me a fever and the holes took forever to heal.

Alright, thanks :) I think it helps to see the jewelery size in person aswell. The piercer should be the best in scandinavia I have read so I'll ask him what you should start with and what the max size hole is that he will make and such.

I think starting with anything larger than an 18 gauge would be pretty painful.  Like I said, the original (18 gauge) studs in my ears didn't hurt at all.  It only started hurting once anything larger than that was stuck in there.  Over here at least, they pierce your body part with a stud that will reside in the hole until it heals.  Not sure they make any larger starter studs.

Good luck!

I can remember when I got the holes in my ears as a girl. Hurt a little bit, but it was OK. I hardly use them anymore... From time to time I think about getting a piercing in my belly, but my waist is too fat to show it, so I save my money for other things...

I've had enough holes poked in me by people who don't like me and doctors so I'll pass on the piercings but if you like it, go for it. The only advice I like to give is the same with tattoos. Start small and really think about it if you decide to go all out. What seems like a good idea in your 20's may come back and bite you in the ass in your 40's.

Dont have any piercings.  I have tattoos.  Reason why, as clumsy as I am those things would just get ripped out.

That's why I don't have any tatoos.  Well, that and money.  6 years ago I almost got my left arm sleeved in a chinese theme.  I couldn't afford the $2,000 it was going to cost, so it never happened.  I can safely say I am thrilled that I didn't do it now, because I wouldn't be able to get a job.

Meh, if a place doesn't accept tattoos I could safely say I wouldn't want to work there anyways!

I am a manager in a childrens home and no one bats an eyelid to my arm.  That's how it should be.
