Victorinox, 136 Prince, Soho district, NYC
on: October 03, 2007, 07:56:54 AM
As some of you probably know, I recently visited New York in America. While there, I visited the Victorinox store (how could I not have).

Inside, there was almost the full line of Victorinox products, including luggage tags, locks, breifcases, suitcases, wallets, (expensive) watches, clothing, and, of course, knives! They even had an 1890s Soldier, as well as many other old knives, on display. They also had (not to buy, unfortunately) the full line of six or seven commemorative knives of significant Swiss battles. There was so much "awesomeness" that I had to divide it up into two trips so I didn't explode! The first trip, I purchased a Spirit S (and now I understand why you guys love them so much). I also got the Staghorn SwissChamp that you may know that I've been after for a while. I got a good deal on this one- They had them on display, but not with prices, so I asked if they were for sale, and they said yes. I asked for the price of the Staghorn model, and she looked it up, and said 140 American dollars. I was extatic, as this was much less than I'd ever found. I ended up paying 340-something (USD) for those two knives, and I checked my receipt, they had charged me about one hundred American dollars more than they quoted for the Staghorn, so I went in and talked to them, and they were very nice and understanding, and it turns out that she quoted the wood-handled Swisschamp's price, they then apologized gave me back the hundred or so dollars. I was very happy, to say the least.

I went back the next day, and saw the torches, and I remembered how much I wanted one. I asked if they had any AAs in stock, but they said they only had Cs. I was dissapointed, but then she said she does have one, but it has been opened, because another guy bought one, and it didn't come with the lanyard, so they took it out of the other box. Since the torch itself was untouched, I said it was fine, and I also got a 30% discount!

All in all, it was a very nice, mellow store. They even had free fancy water bottles.

They don't allow pictures, but they let us take a few (discreetly) once they heard how far we traveled. I have to go now, but I'll post the pictures later. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

You going to have enough squirrel for everyone, or are some folks going to have to make do with mock squirrel stew?  :ahhh

Sound like fun! I didn't know they had that kind of store there. I'll have to check it out sometime. I've been meaning to head to NYC for a few reasons, now I have another!

Their ancestral kinsmen must have brought that culinary taste with them, when they settled in the southern US.

I just do not know the obsession with deep frying things.  I will have to say that deep fried treats are far superior to other foods.  Fish and chips would just not be the same if the fish and potato were boiled.  Actually it would SUCK not to mention lack in flavor.
