Is my Blackout missing a bit?
on: November 12, 2010, 08:04:14 PM
This isn't the best pic as it isn't at the right angle, but I am hoping that with this and a description it will be clear what I mean;

Where the lanyard hole is (as above) it is hollow all the way through - as you would expect a normal lanyard hole to be.  But after nosing through some other pics, I saw that there appears to be something in that hole which reduces the hole to a smaller size, and maybe acts as a screw to hold the back together (see below pic);

This is of course no big deal at all.  I am just curious, is mine missing a piece?  Do I not have that on mine as mine is an older model?  Did Kershaw make this bit removable so a lanyard could be used?

Thanks all
I'm back!!

I grabbed mine out to take a look and yes there appear to be an inner sleeve that I'm
assuming keeps the back end held together?  A lanyard would have to be pretty small
to fit through that hole.

I hadn't noticed that till you mentioned it. Here's a video review of a 1550 (440A steel) where you can clearly see that little part in the back. :-\

It would explain the small gap I have in the back of the FRN handle.

Thanks for the info folks  :tu:

It certainly looks like it.  Give Kershaw's customer service a shout - they'll send out the part to you.  Based on my experience, they'll also likely send out a couple of complete sets of frame screws, new pivot screws, new washers, a couple of extra clips and one of those Kershaw T-Tool screwdriver sets as well.  That's what I ended up with when I asked them to send me a single new washer for a Kershaw Zing I had.

It's just gonna be a little baggy of screws.  Could be for a phone or computer case for all customs would know.

I've given Kershaw a shout to see if I can get sent the bit I need.  It's not actually a big deal so not worried either way.  Was just curious more than anything.
I'm back!!
