I'll only keep a spare of my EDC if it is difficult to get in some way.  For example my UK EDC was a Vic Ranger and LM Mini.  I would only EDC the mini after I got a second one.  Just in case I broke or lost the first one.

For the easy to get tools I don't bother cus I don't see the point - just replace it or have it repaired if something goes wrong.

I know its silly, but the collector side of me cringes when I use a rare MT/SAK if I don't have a backup :)

Look at the PST and Pulse.  I sure wish I'd stashed away a few dozen of each - I could sell them at a nice profit  :D

IMO, the Pulse is one of the top 5 best EDC tools of all time. I love mine and will never part with it. I would love to pick up another one to back up mine, but it isn't cost effective right now.

I only have back ups of a couple things, but none of which are multitools. I have a back up for my beloved Buck 303 Cadet, a couple random things I keep with me (P-38, Sears 4way driver), but nothing else is an exact copy of anything else I own. I have many knives and multis, though.
