What's the story on these ?

The Collectors Club contacted Leatherman early this year about making these and Leatherman ended up making around 50 of them I believe :salute: I opened mine up already  and the Crunch itself has 2021 datecodes  :o I forget the month already though

Imagine if they move it to the Retired page tomorrow and these are last fifty ever made!

Is the Crunch the tool that’s had the longest production run? 24 years so far, I think.

The LCC Crunch project began November 15th, 2022 as a signed tool project for the club.  It wasn’t until December 8th that we decided on the Crunch.  Our desire was to have something unique to present along side our collections and Tim brought up the idea of having these plaques made.

50 were made in total.  The team at Leatherman really went above and beyond to make these special.  I’m not sure anyone has posted detail photos yet, but the way the tool sits inside this two-tiered display is quite impressive.  Everyone is certainly very delighted with how it all came out.

One of the best tools LM made in my opinion. Easily in my top 3-5.

Great pic, Adam!

That’s pretty much what ended up happening.  🫣

They retired the Crunch as we all know, right after you made this comment.

A shame these are gone. One of Leatherman's best MTs in my opinion.

They did drop a last batch onto the website after the signed ones were sent out, but if they’re a sentimental bunch, I’d guess the collectors ones were the last ones actually assembled.

I’m really hoping there will be a second generation Crunch with an outside opening blade released soon. General production, obviously, not a Garage one. Crunches deserve to be used.

The last batch order I received had a 2021 date code so who knows what the true last assembled was.

Gen 2 crunch would be amazing.

My son and I both have an end-run NIB Crunch, but neither one of us cut the tape to check the dates. Unless I break the one I use, my new one will never see the light of day (at least from me). I'm really curious about his because it was bought after LM posted their last call.

Most had at least one if not both handles with a 2021 date code.

Since they had a good stock of handles built up, do you think that the locking plier head was the part that usually had to be made to restart production?

I also think that the 2021 datecode was what was in at least one handle if not both of mine as well :salute:
