Thanks eveyone,

@leopis,
i love the rainbow effect achieved from heating the scales, i actually tried that myself but overheated them until they were glowing orange. I was just lucky they didn't start to deform as they were off the handles.

@Chako,
If leatherman had taken the damascus DLC charge into production i almost certainly wouldn't have bothered to modify mine at all and made sure i got hold of one of those instead. The DLC coating is so much more pleasant than black oxide.
Pictures of most of my work can be found on my Facebook Page.
Also have a look at my Shapeways Shop and SW Torch Shop for 3D printed items.

It sure is!  :drool:

In other news, the serrated blade on my TTi has tightened up to the point that I can barely open it one-handed, and oil has not helped. This one came back from a factory warranty service just a couple months ago and has seen no hard use or water exposure, so not sure of the reason. I have a couple tamper-resistant Torx drivers on the way to tweak it a bit; we'll see how it turns out.

Man, that PE blade is really messed up...Did you try chopping through a steel pipe with it?  ::)
I'm sure LM would fix it under warranty  :rofl:

Thanks to my two newly-arrived friends, the serrated blade on my TTi is smooth as butter again. Even better, they were cheaper than postage to Oregon.  :D

Just got mine from FelineVet today. Ain't she a beauty? Though it's definitely a little stiff. How did you guys loosen them up? Just some WD40?

You have to do the 'ritual' that is breaking in a new Leatherman  :D :D.

Constant opening & deploying the blades tools should lead to things loosening up over time. I think there is a few of us that do this whilst watching TV  :think: :D :D. WD40 may help , I like manually breaking my LMs in  :D :D

I cheat a undo the pivot screws until it's just a little tight. No reason to stress out over grinding away the material then.

Well, that does it. I've been eyeing off a Charge TTi, and this thread and all of its smut has sold me on it. Excuse me while I surf eBay for a while.

Word of warning: In the future, a year or so from now, try not to dig around in your eBay account, looking to see what you spent on purchases in the last 6 or 12 months.

I did it once  :o :ahhh

Did you have to (for that matter can you?) remove the scales to do that, or did you just blowtorch carefully?

The TTI is the one I carry every time I can justify carrying a locking blade.

Just curious, when is it that you cannot justify carrying a blade that locks?
