All this CRAZY talk of not buying MT's , knives or torches  ??? ??? ???. Am I in the right place  :P :D :D.

Def if you stay of the soft drink/soda pop mate your weight will FLY off , that stuff is liquified ,concentrated sugar with caffeine on top. Have you noticed the caffeine withdrawals . I like the occasional Vanilla Coke but coffee is my major vise.

Me I desperately need loose weight I have been running at 100-105kg for the last couple of years , would love to get too 90kg. I gotta do it this year  .

No withdrawal that I've noticed so far.  As I said though, I haven't cut it out completely, just cut out about 90% of it.  There are still times when I feel like having some pop rather than anything else, and more often than not I'll have a glass and I seem to be good.

I'm on tablets for high blood pressure so I'm going to take better care of myself this year . I eat way too much chocolate , drink far too much ( Rum , Beer and wine ) and I dont exercise enough .I'm doing ok so far .

Dunc

Nothing wrong with drinking too much.  It is far better than drinking too little.

Little steps toward good health make the move easier.  I have bloodwork later this month to see how well I am doing on my health makeover. I started back in October though.

New Years is just a convenient milestone for people to use as a starting point.  It doesn't really matter when you start, as long as at some point you do.  For me, I think I should have started a lot sooner, but I'm lucky I'm not at the point where I have to make changes.  I could continue the way I am going for years before it became a serious health concern, but I don't want to get there.  I think a large part of the issues folks have following major incidents is the system shock resulting from major overhauls of activity level and diet, so it makes sense to start gradually before there's a problem.

I'm not a health nut and I don't follow a specific diet.  I reduce a lot of the portions I eat rather than cutting out certain foods, and I try to make healthier choices such as putting more vegetables and less mayo on my sandwich at Subway.  Cutting out 90% of my pop intake I'm sure will have some results, but I've yet to see them.  Still, it's only been a couple of weeks, and I didn't expect results immediately.

On top of everything else, I have been working out on both my Wii Fit and on my friend's Bowflex.  I think if I keep this up I may accidentally become reasonably healthy!

I'm down to 192 pounds, from ~205 at Christmas time so I think I'm doing pretty good so far.  I've been about 190-195lbs since SHOT, so I think I'm holding it off quite well.  I haven't really made much in the way of dietary changes, except to eat a little bit less of everything more often than not, and of course I haven't bought a bottle of Coke or Pepsi since maybe early January?  I still have some, on occasion, particularily when I go to McDonalds or another fast food restaurant (which I still do entirely too much!) but I used to go through about 8L each week.  I'm still on Perrier most of the time at home, and my wife has gotten me some bizarre hippie juice concoction that she's been drinking.  The woman is a slave to trends, and I'm sure there's go to have been hemp in the manufacturing process at some point.  I think these companies make so much money off producing "natural" juices that they are able to import "natural" flavor from third world countires and blend it with the bizarre other things they found to make juice from.  At least the folks at Coke and Pepsi are honest enough to say their stuff is battery acid without the health benefits!  :P

Anyways, the good news is I've lost a chunk of weight.  The better news is, I've been keeping it off so far, and since it's the result of a few small choices, my lifestyle hasn't really been altered much so it shouldn't be a problem to keep going.

The bad news is that ending a lifelong soda pop habit has left me feeling tired an awful lot.  Losing out on a lifelong addiction to sugar and caffiene has left me a bit blah, but I'm sure it'll work out eventually.

Hey, good on all you guys watching and being pro-active with health!

About 6 months ago I'd gone to my Dr. for a visit and he found
my blood pressure a bit too high, so we talked back and forth a bit on
what to do about it.  Funny thing, was he'd just mentioned coming back
from a Seminar on, as he put it "Rising Blood Pressure in the 45 year
old male."
It's getting to be a real problem, starting right around that age, and it all
has mostly to do with diet and fitness.  So, that's what I started doing,
watching my diet a bit more closely, and exercising close to 5 days a week.
I would imagine, it goes without saying that a lot of bad things can be
controlled by diet and exercise, yes? :)

I have a pretty physically demanding job, so I don't do much in the way of exercising.  In the last few days I've walked close to ten miles and climbed the equivalent of the Empire State Building with 30-40 pounds worth of weight.  After that, I'm not certain what good going to the gym would do me!  :p

I do work out once in a while with the WiiFit, but I'm not certain that does a whole heck of a lot more than just trying to make me feel better about myself, and I do lift some weights with a friend, although not really as much as I'd like.

In the summer however, I spend as much time as possible in my kayak, and that is a good workout!

Good to hear the weight is going the right direction.  I put a bit on over Christmas but I'm sure my recent tooth anguish will have helped reverse that trend ::) :D

I know what you mean about feeling a bit blah after nixing the soda.  I stopped drinking coffee a few months ago, I didn't drink a huge amount but I was annoyed with myself for feeling the need to have one every morning before I could do anything else.  Again due to the evil teeth I've not been able to drink Pepsi or even tea this last couple of weeks :(  Figured I'm this far gone I may as well just get used to it and find me something else warm and wet without caffeine
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Due to my son's health problems my New Years resolution had to take a back seat. But I'm gonna start again. Nothing drastic, try to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my meals and cut back on my smoking. I had actually slowed down a bit but when my son got sick the stress got me smoking more again.

I'm also eating way too many sweets but that's on me. No excuse for that except I do tend to buy candy on clearence. I'd just gotten done with my leftover Xmas candy when Valetine's Day passed and all that candy went on clearence. I know I'm weak but I have a hard time passing up a deal. But I am gonna get back into it. I just gotta go slow and stick with it. Spring is coming so that will help me become more active. I turn into a slug during Winter.
