How likely am I to find paracord locally? ...

What do you think my chances are of finding some paracord (or something very similar) in a local store?

Dick's, Gander Mt., various hardware stores?

I'd like to grab some for a couple of projects.

My guess is with a Dicks and Gander mountain, he's probably in the US.  I would guess you may find paracord at those places, but I think you'd have better luck going to an outdoor sporting goods type store (think climbing and camping equipment) or an Army Navy surplus store.

I called EMS. They have white paracord in pre-packaged 50ft lengths. But that's probably the last color I'd want.

They also sell this by the yard, a little heavier at 4mm.

Just make sure it's real 550 cord... I get mine locally from 2 different surplus stores usually.
