You mean similar to the Mercedes type fold out keys?

Hey... I really like that idea!  I wonder how you could do it?

(Image removed from quote.)

Def

Yeah similar.

Basically a part that allows you to insert a Yale type key that can then fold away like a blade.

I'm sure it could be done, it might stick out a bit on an 85mm or 91mm but both the 111 and 120mm should swallow the width of a key no problem :)

Depending on the type of key, it shouldn't be a big problem.  I could see a simple setup, similar to the blade holder on the Leatherman Surge doing a similar job.  I actually really like the idea, and I've been thinking seriously about it all morning!

You could go all out and instead of having a bunch of keys you could have say 4 or 5 in a sak.

I am thinking it would be best to have a modular thing because everyone has a different number of keys.  For instance, I have one for the car, two for the house, one for a store I occasionally work at, and one for my in-law's house.  I have had cars in the past that have one, two and even three keys.

And those are just the standard sizes keys.  Add in the smaller ones I have and I have a few more...

I think that keys will eventually go the way of the dodo someday at least for cars anyway.  I believe that Lexus has a fingerprint recognition thingy that starts the car instead of a key.  It might still have a "just in case" key but I am not sure.

That's quite possible, but I'd trust a simple key over some electronic finger print reader, but then I'm a self confesed ludite :D

But what if I wanted my friend to use the car?  A lot easier to give him my key than my finger.  :)

I agree that they will eventually go this way.  But I do think that there will always be a key of some sort.  Just in case of a power failure or component failure.

Some folks would rather give the finger than the key :D Biometrics are the  wave of the future, but, just sure as eggs are eggs, some smart thief will find ways around even the most sophisticated system.
