i think that even though they dont look  as good as they could they have been looking at what sells and have been looking to update there image people proberly would say that the budget range they do now like the kick is poop but mine is ace dont have any quality or rubbish materials with it and its a 30 pound knife just like the leatherman sidekick.and i would buy one other than the fact hey have overlooked the uk market and made them locking items which has put me off and considering they are a replacement for the kick range i think its a silly idea.taking uk legal multitools right out of the game being left with juice and squirt. ???

Unfortunately I don't suspect the UK market is even close to being big enough for us to factor in their design decisions.  Though the fact they did a non-OHO range specifically for Denmark might give us some hope.

I do wonder if they'll come up with another knifeless design if, presumably, the knifeless Fuse is disappearing?

maybe there is some hope in all hoinesty if they dont bring out another sadly i cant see myself buying another leatherman.and knifless fuse etc for me is no good as the main blade is the key to the tool and i would feel lost if my tool dident have a knife blade on it.i think a new version of the sideclip is in need ive got two new ones in the box like but dont want to use them ha.

I have to agree with that  :tu:

If you are new to multitool game and are looking to buy off the shelf which one would you go for on looks alone? With the blister packs today you can't even handle them  :-\

I think Leatherman is SLIGHTLY different though. Even people who are new to MT's (in my experience) have at least heard of Leatherman and "know" it means quality.

I hope it doesn't bite LM in the arse though.. If an entry level buyer DOES purchase an inexpensive LM on name alone and finds that it's junk (or not any better than a Gerber, etc.) they will most likely never even think about spending BIG $ on another (real) Leatherman.

But, as I said before, if they are made in the USA and backed by the 25 year warranty they can't be TOO bad. LM stands to lose way too much $$ in warranty returns if they are junk.

Juice and squirt had that effect on me anyway - crying shame really, they could have been such great tools. Hope folks have more luck with these items

Don't let my wife hear you say that.  She loves her Juice CS4 and her Squirt S4.  ;)

I just saw this, and boy am I disappointed.  I have been praying for a better Base line (PST descendant) MT from them for years, and they keep coming up short.  The closest to perfect for me is the Pulse, and after the ST300 upgrade last year I thought maybe we had a shot at a redesign of the pulse, but it would appear that LM is indeed heading for the Gerber-style gimmick tools(cough!).  I mean, a clamshell opener?  Could they BE any more gimmicky?  It's been done and no one EDC's that tool.  I can hardly find the Octane for sale anywhere but Cabela's.

And I thought the Style and Style CS were bad!

As far as "clamshell opener" goes, I was under the impression I had a tool for that already and it was invented millenia before the clamsheld package...

However it certainly does look like I will not be getting a Leatherman tool this year. I see myself moving, changing jobs, and trying to start working on a Master's degree so disposable income will be slightly limited. I believe the only new purchases I will be making will be two new Benchmade knives.
