Squirt
on: October 18, 2007, 05:15:30 PM
I ordered my wife a Leatherman Squirt with scissors.  It arrived just the other day and I liked it so much that I had to get one for myself.  I think that the tool is very well made and I was very impressed with the design and the fact that it is a really solid tool despite its small size.  I have been moving toward smaller tools ever since I gave up archaeology as a career.  I really dont need a large pair of pliers on a daily basis and the squirt will work for most things I use a multitool for and if I do I always have one of my tools nearby or in my car.  Anyone else like the Squirt?

I haven't got the Squirt S4 but I've got a P4 and think the same as you, they are well built and do the job well. Often the little tools like the Squirt/Micra/Crossgrip etc solve the problems that most people grab a bigger tool for. The colours also look cool on the Squirts, which colour did you get?

I bought a used Squirt S4 off ebay a month ago, and it was a little rough around the edges and needed a thorough cleaning when I received it.  Everything on it works nicely and it's come in handy doing key chain duty since I got it.  I like it as much as my Micra.   :D

I have a P4 as my only tool on me right now since I was in at the hospital for school. I love the Squirt series and got an S4 for my wife who likes it very much :)

I ordered a Blue Squirt P4.  I have too many gray things and I thought that blue would go great with my wardrobe. :)  I wish that they made one in Orange like the Juice since orange is my color.  Always has been always will be.

I like the Squirts, but my favorite of the three is the S4.  I like the nail file best, and the scissors are more handy since I usually have a regular multi on me as well.

I still have the E4 on my "list", but I need to just get one... I wonder if the newer E4 screwdrivers will ever make it on the P4 & S4. I never did understand why they have the different designs...

More variety means the same design will appeal to a greater number of people.

True... unless all three are on the shelf at the same time at Wal Mart and you can compare them.

I wouldn't know- you couldn't force me to shop at Wal Mart at gunpoint!

Very few retailers around here carry any more than the odd one or two multis so I doubt they would have any, let alone all three.

The Squirt P4 was the first Leatherman tool I ever owned.  I really like it, although I EDC a Micra on my keys these days.

I also like the Squirt. I have both S4 and P4. I use my squirts for light jobs at home only because my permanent EDC is LM Wave.

A real phillips head would be a nice addition to the squirt.  As for finding them at Wal mart, I dont believe that they have the squirt series at my wal mart.  They only have the Core, Surge, Wave, and I believe a fuse or kick.  No squirt though.  If they had them I would not have bothered to order one since I live so close to walmart.  As of right now I have no use for the E-4 model.  It is definately a great idea but I no longer do electronics work so I havent a use for one anymore.  If I still worked on electronics as I once did I would definately have one since standard wire strippers and cutters are rather large.

Are the pliers useful on those things? They look so small I don’t think they would be use full.

For small jobs yes.  Don't expect it to be terribly useful removing head gaskets or overhauling your furnace, but for many computer and other small type jobs, it's well suited.

I figured that it would make addition to my fishing vest.  The pliers are small enough that I can carry them easily clipped to a retractor on my belt or vest.  I do a lot of fishing and I walk most of the time carrying my gear in a vest or pocket.  Although I have a full size multi with me I have to remove it from the sheath unfold it and so on to remove a hook.  With this I have no sheath to mess with and it has small screwdrivers easily available for quick reel repair.

Cool.  So you EDC the scissors one eh? Have you ever a need for the p4 pliers one?
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I bought a 24oz Beck's and some beef jerky and had .75 cents left over :D
