Note: That's
STEEL
not
STEAL
Got the new scales for my Deluxe Tinker through from Neil earlier (cheers mate), and of course used the knife in question to open the package. I noticed some bad reflections off the edge as I was closing it, but to be honest I've had it a few months and haven't needed to sharpen it yet. Sure enough I was losing the edge but just grabbed the pocket steel out of the drawer, half a dozen flicks each side and it's right as rain again!
Anyone else steeling their blades?

I do my kitchen knives frequently on one. I usually strop my pocket knives though on
leather.

I use it only on kitchen knives also. And only when they're almost sharp, otherwise must "stone" them.

kitchen knives yeah, but I read that ultimately steeling is bad for the blade.

Only when I try to fix damaged edge, my knives tend to have really hard steel so regular steel won't work, and I'm too cheap to buy the glass one.

I'm a butcher so its usually the most convenient when I need to top up a pocketknife.
