The thing is HUGE  :ahhh :ahhh.

2 hours away & they are saying people will die , houses/towns will be destroyed :ahhh :ahhh.
I believe it is the worst cyclone/typhon to hit Oz  :( :( :(.

The state of Queensland is taking an absolute battering , they are still recovering/rebuilding from devastating recent floods. I guess it is a slight positive that the cyclone is expected to hit north of the areas that were flooded.

Wind speeds are expected to hit 300-400kms/hr 180-250mls/hr BLOODY HELL.

Holy crap!  Instead of hoping for the best, I think I'd just burn my house down before it hit!

I know for a fact my house wouldn't stand up to 300+km/hr winds.

OK the worst of the storm has passed but it is still going inland & has been down graded from a category 5 cyclone(the highest) too a category 2 , it is weakening as it goes inland.
Wind speeds were less than expected peaking at 'only' 290km/hr  :ahhh. Measuring equipment was destroyed though  :o.

Amazingly no loss of life has been reported , at this stage. The destruction has been described as Apocalyptic though, 170,000 houses without electricity expected to become 200,000 houses by the end of today. Banana & sugar crops have been flattened & evacuated people are still unable access the worst hit areas due to flooding. So the level of damage is still unknown.
