Wenger Lithos Model and Wenger Max Info Needed
on: February 13, 2011, 01:59:09 AM
I recently came across the Wenger Lithos model when one sold on ebay a couple of days before Christmas for a song.  This is an Esquire like model very similar to the gold Macao knives, but featuring stone inlays for the scales, rather than the laquer finish.  Since then I've got a bit more info, but the well has run dry.

Does any one have any information on these like, introduction date (maybe 1992?), markets they sold in, different versions available (I've identified 3 so far).

A related question; these were markeded under "Wenger Max" or "Wenger - The Max" branding, any information on other models that were produced for this line?

Thanks!

I picked up this one at the weekend not sure if it is a lithos as the tool set does not match but the scales are stone.

Nice serrated blade which is odd as well

I know its an old thread but what the hell :)

Here's the SAKwiki info on Lithos. They show up in a US 1998 catalog, but not a 2001 catalog, which at least gives you a general date range.

I've only seen Lithos scales on Esquires. As for the serrated blade, it was offered on the Serrated Esquire (#16440) and Titanium Serrated Esquire (#16640).

Very nice find!  :salute:

Man I love that one!  Super find!  Maybe a transplant, but more likely a special run for some purpose or some one.

Could be a mod but it looks pretty untouched I do think it has spent all its life on someones keys though all the tools are prefect but the scales are scratched and the stone has a few cracks in it nice knife though :)
