Wow, not a good time for me right now.
on: February 16, 2011, 04:26:04 AM
All happened in the last few days, got laid off by the smurfty company I work for, and shot down by this girl I really liked. Talk about a double whammy, so excuse me while I go shoot myself.  :(

Put it this way man. Two bad things down, come on, you can't be lucky enough that something else bad is gonna happen.

So, you're rock bottom and it's only gonna get better for the good.

I was laid off from two jobs last year. One I was working for for a year and a half and I really liked the job. I was the lowest-paid, and I was pretty knowledgable. So there was no reason for them to get rid of me.

The second job sucked, but I got paid a lot more. The job I have now was offered to me from basically a guy on the street the day that I was laid off from the second job.

I am the HAPPIEST that I've been in a couple of years man.

Things are gonna change, hopefully for the better.

Remember, good things come to those who wait. Don't dwell on the bad too much and look up.

But I know it sucks dude. Hang in there.

Hang in there buddy- it's depressing, but don't let it get you down.  Tomorrow is a new day- use it to make something good happen!  You aren't important enough to the universe for it to single you out and beat on you mercilessly, so things will have to change!  Probability is fun, isn't it?

As others have said, hang in there!

My son had an excellent career and was building a business when the crash came.  He lost it all, had $50K in debt, a new truck and trailer and 2 horses when the farm where he was the trainer, sponsored rider and head instructor went bankrupt and wsas put up for sale suddenly in the 2008 crash.

It bit him hard.

Now, he's out of debt (sold the truck, trailer AND both horses), in his second year of law school at Georgetown and has an awesome steady girlfriend.

It'll even out over the long haul.

Thanks everyone, I'm just trying to figure out what the next step is. Most likely I'll back to school for a career change, but that's not till September so I'll have to figure out something to do in between.

Dont take this as an insult, but MacDonalds is always hiring.

It sounds bad, but if you get fed up and just need to get out of the house until better options come up then it might be a good thing to go after anything you can get.

I know that during the two months that I was laid off and working for the state I was going nuts. Im not a video gamer, but it was the only thing to do during the day. I would have taken anything that came towards me for awhile.

I remember applying to MacDonalds and Taco Bell a couple of times. They never called me, but I was giving anything a try.

Just try not to have too much pride as far as what you were being payed before.

I suppose the plus side is that I can turn fast enough that regular methods don't work well anymore, need to start practicing my slalom racing technique...

As a Married man I must take a bit of offense to that.  Even if my wife and I split, I would still consider her to be one of the smartest and most incredible people in the world.  She IS special.  It sounds to me like you have been with a run of space cadets and they have jaded you.   Yes, women are the same in many ways, but my wife is an unparalleled mother and partner in life.

If this girl meant something to J, then don't trivialize his trouble by putting something so negative out here.

As far as things getting better for our comrade here, the last thing he needs to hear is a stranger telling him they won't.  We are a supportive lot here on MT.O and if you don't have something either constructive or supportive to say, it's best not to hit that reply to thread button.

Jzmtl, things WILL get better, but how long it takes is up to you my friend.

Mods, I don't mean to open a can here, but I felt it had to be said.

i cant tell you that you are not right
its only my point of view i know it may be correct for some and it may be incorrect for the others
but as you said the main point is its going to be better , my advice will be to try and take onething at a time and not rush 3 4 things at the same time because it will be harder to make everything go well when your under pressure

focus on your job right now, and if she is really that that special, dont let her go    as i saw no body is replacable but keep that thought as the worst case scenario

hope you find a job that you enjoy as soon as possible and i know im a stranger but we all are in this forum but it doesnt matter if you need help i think anyone will answer your call

As for woman problems. Cant help with that. Been happily married now for 20 years, and could not exist without her.

Hey JZ how are you feeling? Let us know when you get the chance.

Thanks, I'm doing well so far. Mostly gotten over the girl by now, and planning go back to school for a career change this fall. Meanwhile I'm just looking for something to do during these couple of months, which is harder than I thought, because the ones I can find all needs long term commitment, and I only plan to stay a few months.

there is something like the rock bottom effect or something like that you can see the point of this effect in fightclub and movies like that
when things reach a time that is leteraly the worst time of your life you will stop and think how can i make things better since everything will be better than where you are right now
i think that is how we all change and in 99% of the time if we truly want to change and not only say we want to change we will change for the better

i read alot of books and stuff like that on personal improvement and believe me in somethings it truly helps, for example if you want to go back to school there are hundreds of way to get better grades with less effort , you will remember better study smarter.... and most importantly there are lots of tricks (i wouldnt say tricks but more like tips) on how to communicate with people

dont read 500 books and understand nothing from them , read a book or two that truly help and can truly change your life, if you want i think i can help you with that since after i finish a book a do a summery for it

hope you truly change your life not for the better but for what you want what ever is this "better" for you :P
and watch fightclub it teaches you so much , things that if you truly do in life will change your life :) hope i helped
