That is cause for concern.  This is the first time I've ever heard of something like this happening, but I am going to test mine with a few gentle whacks and see what happens.  I suggest everyone else do the same, and if you have any concerns, express them to your Victorinox representative.

Personally I am not that worried as I've used my Spirit for fairly heavy work in the past without the slightest budge, but better safe than sorry.

Every blade on mine locks up tighter than a bank vault.

Then I flipped all the blades open at once to get a better look inside at how the Spirit locking system works. (Try it yourself) The basic mechanism is a strong, simple design. I can't understand how or why it failed on the guy.

Not sure where this photo came from but it shows the lock really well

All the tools on my Spirit are very tight , its just the play in the plier springs that bugs me .

As Kelly Bundy would say, "the mind wobbles."

I don't see how it could fail either, and it's not like it is a new design.  Isn't it exactly the same lock that's on the SwissTool and AutoTool before that?  I am not doubting what this guy has to say, but it certainly does seem odd.

Of course, every company is due a few manufacturing errors here and there, but usually Victorinox's are pretty few and far between.
