What happened to SOSAK?
on: March 20, 2011, 06:51:01 PM
What happened to the SOSAK website? I tried to get on it just a few minutes ago, and all that comes up is some BS Apple computer sales garbage! Did I miss something? I was just on the site a few days ago!
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

It looks like the sosakonline.com domain name wasn't renewed.

It was renewed.

I've been changing all of my domains over to a new registrar as the old one is no longer in that business, and there have been some communication issues between them.  Some of you may remember EDCSource and SAKWiki were down for a few hours last month for the same reason.

SOSAKOnline.com should be back up and running now.

Well it was working... now it seems to have crapped out.  Don't worry, Esteban is on it.  He'll get it sorted out sooner or later.

That's possible... it could take a couple of days (!) for DNS changes to propagate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_propagation
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

So I've learned something new today. Thanks for the info. Why should things be simple when they can be complicated, right? So my free of charge dyndns service works better then the static one you have to pay for. :D Yea, I know it's not the same, just reminded me of it.

Actually, since the dns info rarely changes, most servers are set to only check with the host dns once in a while rather than constantly to avoid loading the server with unnecessary traffic. However, some hosting companies will change the refresh period to shorter so that by the time the transfer happens, most servers on the net pickup the new dns info quite quickly and there's a pretty seemless transfer...

In any case, seems sorted totally now, but we could setup an alternate access domain if some of you are still having issues.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.
