Vics with Magnifying Lenses

So, of the regular production 91mm models I think these are the ones that had/have magnifiers:

  • Scientist
  • Yeoman (original)
  • Passenger
  • Explorer/Explorer Plus
  • Modeler
  • Woodsman
  • Outdoorsman
  • Champion/Champion Plus
  • Swisschamp
  • Swisschamp Super Timer
  • Swisschamp XLT
  • Swisschamp XAVT
  • Swisschamp XXLT
  • CyberTool Lite

Am I missing any? I know there were a few non-standard models (the Outdoorsman is arguably one of those, but there are non-Marlboro examples), such as the Hoffritz Woodsman that also has pliers, but I'm wondering if there were any others I missed.

Also, were there ever any 111mm models with mag lenses? 84mm? I don't recall any, but you never know...

I can't think of any other model :think: Maybe the Boy Scout Yeoman, but that's just a variant of the Yeoman (or the Explorer) of course.

There have never been any 84mm or 111mm models with a magnifier. I've seen a 84mm mod though :D

As Reinier says, other than a couple of 84mm mods, I don't believe there was anything other than a 91mm lens.  Though doesn't one of the SwissCards have a lens in it? :think: 

Edit: Yes, the SwissCard Lite has a mag lens as well.  Phew, nothing wrong with my memory, no siree. :angel:

The only standard production Vic you missed is the Swisschamp XL, which is understandable since they only made for a short time.

Non-standard 91mm Vics with mag glasses include:

a. Hoffrtiz Limited Edition (Woodsman w/ pliers instead of scissors)
b. Telemacanique Scientist (Scientist w/ flat screwdriver instead of combo tool)
c. WMF Tool (SwissChamp w/o fish scaler)
d. SwissBianco Yeoman Mechanic (Yeoman + pliers)

There are probably more one-off customs made for companies, but those are the only ones I know of right now.

Is it possible to find a brand new Vic with the old magnifing glass and phillips? I suspect all the ones im finding ae the new magnifier, but sometimes its hard to tell from website photos.

Don't trust catalogue pictures.  Many sites still show the old style models but have long since run out of stock.  You need to specifically ask what you're getting before purchase.

I've got a few that will be going up on EDCS in the near future and you can bet that Felinevet will have some in.

Yep i asked one place and sure enough wrong photo. If they were discontinued in 2005 they shouldn't be too hard to find should they?

Nope, still plenty around but the main retail sites are unlikely to have any.    Price on the older ones have crept up already so do expect to pay a premium for the old style if you want a new one.  Second hand it'll make little difference to.
