Alright, so I don't know if anyone here knew a lot about Lone Wolf Knives.  It was essentially started by a couple of ex-Gerber employees, and their motto was making near-custom level quality knives at low cost.  Exotic hardwoods, cool engineering like the Paul Presto lock, double-action automatic knives, good steel (S30V and 154CM), etc.  Very nice stuff.

Benchmade bought the brand.

Benchmade has now utterly destroyed the brand.

No more cool folders, no more exotic hardwoods, just low-cost, Chinese made knives with truly nothing interesting about them.  Unless, of course, generic wood-handled hunting knives appeal to you.

Now, I don't mind Chinese made knives, I think they can do great quality, but this sucks.  Benchmade just obliterated a new, up and coming company that was dedicated to the development of new and interesting designs.

Lone wolf was in deep financial trouble and that's why they sold it to BM, so I guess what they were trying to didn't work out, and BM isn't going to keep losing money doing it.

I had a chance to, ahem, admire, one of LW's scale actuated D/A a few years back but passed, still kicking myself for it.

I really really like Benchmade. Really really like Benchmade. But I have to totally agree that Benchmade has utterly destroyed the Lone Wolf brand. Its a shame to see an up and coming company tank and then become nothing but a brand for Benchmade's cheap line. I think honestly that Lone Wolf was bought more for the technology, the Paul Lock and the Double Action auto.

RIP Lone Wolf.

I do still like Benchmade, but I am a bit dissapointed by this turn of events.

They are too expensive too now, with their minimum price. There are a few I like, but not going to get since there are better knives for less money from other brands.
