Legalizing the ownership of switchblades and other springloaded knives for one-armed and similarly handicapped individuals.
Good thing no one ever mentioned OHO tools

That's the weirdest justification I've ever heard.  Are all the legislators so old that they've never seen them new-fangled one-handed opening pocket knives?

Beats me, but it sounds like someone is a pretty slick talker!

Agreed.  You don't even need any kind of 'assist' technology for this is!

Seems to me like this is more about some company pulling the marketing wool over their state legislature's eyes, than it is about finding viable alternatives for disabled people.
The first Noble Truth: life is suffering.  Only by accepting that fact can we transcend it.

The actual legalization is fine with me. I mean,  there's very little reason in my mind why switchblades should be illegal when assisted knives with flippers a la Kershaw are legal.

The justification used is just wacky,  that's all.

Oh, just you wait.. Pandora's box is open now, and soon we will see a plague come swirling from it's depths like a thick black fog..

A plague..

..of one-armed handicapped switchblade murderers.

They have been waiting in the shadows.. Their empty shirt sleeve rolled up and safety pinned in a menacing fashion. Their spring assisted blades clenched tightly in their remaining fist.

And you, the average citizen of gentle Maine, a mere button pressing away from certain gory death in a one-armed whirlwind of dark disabled spring-loaded rage.

Mark my words, this will not end well. Now that they have the weapons they crave, there's no telling what bloody deeds they are handicapable of.

you can stab someone with a pencil so i cant see the difference in this world why these things are banned anyway, like in the uk banning lockblades but we can still use OHO  plus just under 3inches can still kill a man as can 1inch if you hit the right place, plus to rant on some more  :D most stabbings here in the uk are by young twonks with there mummys kitchen knives, so you go for it one hand fellows  :tu:

My concern is when the "assisted" openers get used in a crime, and then the lawmakers overreact, and ban all one hand opening locking blades.

Im sorry an assisted opener is a switchblade.

If the lawmakers wouldnt over react it would be one thing, but since when did the gvt make rational decisions?
