I found a body in my garden
on:
April 10, 2011, 05:35:43 AM
Yesterday, Friday, a neighbour pounded on my door shouting his friend had fallen out of a 4 storey window in to my garden. We rushed out to find the young lad on the concrete floor, I checked all his vitals, but he was dead, for at least several hours by my estimation. Paramedics, police, etc, on scene, general conclusion, lad was intoxicated, climbed out of window and fell 40 feet, landed head first and was killed. His friend only saw him when he returned from work, then rushed round to my house. I have dealt with dead bodies before, but my heart is heavy because of the thought of this young lad, who was only 23, lying only 6 feet away from us and no one knew he was there. His name is Micheal, he was 23 and from Essex, south east England. All of us here prepare for the worst and hope for the best, but all of our best efforts, tools, weapons, bug out bags, etc, cant prepare you for the truly and shockingly unexpected. I am coping with this, talking to you all, all over the world helps. I am sorry if I am out of line talking about this here, but I find it helpful. Please say a prayer for micheal and his parents/family. God rest his sole
It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Dang...that is indeed bad news. Not sure how I would react to something like that in my back yard. You are not out of line either telling us about this traumatic experience. I do know these things do put our lives into perspective. Hope you and your family are coping well.

It allways sends chills down my spine when I hear about something like that! I'm highly empathic and my emotions go crazy. Allways trying to figure out what were they thaughts, feelings, lifes, past... I know it's a bit strange to do that, but that's me...
Few days ago on my work site (some 20-30m far) police pulled out a young lady from river, she jumped from bridge, why - nobody knows yet.
Hope you and your family coping well... Prayers send...

It's a hard situation indeed. You can at least take heart that even if you had seen it, there was nothing you could have done about it.
You did good helping your neighbor out by taking control of the situation. It's a very hard thing to find a body, especially if it's someone you know, and still keep your head to make sure that things are done properly. Yes it's a bad situation all around, but there's nothing you could have done to help the young man (40 foot drop on the head meant there was nothing you could have done even if you'd been there earlier), and you did what you could after the fact to get things sorted out.
I realize that saying that may not help much now, but when you look back at it and the "What if's" settle in, you can be sure you did all that can be expected of you.

That is indeed a terrible tragedy.
It must be especially hard on his friends and family and all those who knew him. Such a waste of a young life.

Guys I cant thank you enough for your kind words and thoughts
The "what if's" have already started along with those guilty feelings you get but you cant explain why. Hey, no one said life was gonna be easy. Thank you for your prayers, we are all praying for someone we dont know, but that can never be a bad thing, right? Take care you lot, and lets keep helping eachother through things for a long time to come. My very best wishes to you all, Rob

Hey Super hang in there.
I read some time ago that there's over 100 deaths in the UK a month due to Alcohol in one way or another. That number sticks in my mind, So sad.
Best wishes to you and your family.
