My first plier multi tool
on: April 21, 2011, 10:52:14 AM
This is what would have been my first plier multi tool. I got it in 2001 and i only carried it once but didn't really like the weight and i dont think i have ever used it. Its not very good quality at all and it appears to be a copy of an original LM super tool. I did not know much back then and probably thought i was getting something really good but im a bit embarassed & disapointed about that purchase 10 years ago.
Kinchrome is not a bad brand, they make good workshop tools which i do use  which are fine, but these multi tools they put their name on are just cheap LM copies made in China i believe.
I still have the tool and the sheath is somewhere too. I recently got the tool out a bit after i joined up here and it has certainly made me want to get a LM super tool 300 which should be way better.
Its kind of sad really because people get hooked into buy these multi tools that are branded by recognised good tool brands like Kinchrome and Snap On but the multi tools end up being crap. I would be embarrassed to put my comapany name of something of poor quality like this.

I suspect a lot of us here started the same way, I know I had a couple of turkeys before picking up a real Leatherman.  I also can't understand why a good tool maker would be OK with putting their brand on a crappy tool, it's not like they don't know what they're doing. ::)
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Wow, that really does look like the original ST.  Amazing copy.

(BTW, I never carried my LM ST because of the weight and the locks--I preferred the original PST)

I've got a knock of ST from way back. Parents bought it for my fishing and I never really looked back. Only started buying for myself once I turned 18.
