Love the Cadet. I've been thinking of getting a Sportsman, basically the cellidor version of this that also has backside tools (I think), but the Alox factor is appealing.
Get both! I did, am carrying the Sportsman today.

I got the cadet because it's the thinnest and lightest in the 84mm SAK line. plus the Alox does give it more character. i wish they had the different colors here.

tt power, did you see the Danish Cadets? I'm sure they ship to you, wherever you are.

(I've ordered a bantam and a cadet in green. But I wish I'd ordered a black one too.)

My latest SAK: a very old horn scaled Tourist. Purchased on eBay from another member here, which is awesome because it means it can go right in the collection without having to be cleaned/disinfected (SAK collecting is not a hobby for the germophobe). This is, to date, the oldest 84mm I've ever seen.

what's the pricing on the good stuff store?  It's scary to look at while it's labeled "USD" and has a number approaching a thousand for three of these.

Divide by 6 should get you $ prices.

I fell in love with it the second it arrived...Fresh out the mailbox.

I like the look of the old combo tool, but it takes more effort for the initial punch. The lip that grabs the rim of the can has more of an edge than the modern one and slips less. I think I like it better than the new design. Only time will tell.

Need one with nail file now; you guys are making me jealous... Plus another for a project.

Ok it's just the website labeling prices as USD, in Kroner the prices make sense.

An old 84mm like this one is such a thing of beauty.. tough and beautiful.  It might weigh a little more than cellidor models today, but these babies are worth trading Alox for.

84mm Fieldmaster configuration (aka Artisan/Vintage Craftsman/Fieldmaster-small).

As you well know I like the 84mm series but this is so awesome I'm at a loss for words. tom.  :tool:

3 months ago just before I took my little break, I found this beauty.  Model: 246 ka Bgl.

An early Small Huntsman.  Needs cleaning, and a little attention to the small blade, not much else.

Sorry, I'm not setup to photographs so this is just a quick one since I opened it today and won't get another chance for a while.

Did anyone pick up the slightly battered bailed huntsman small with the long nail file that was just on the fleabay?  The final price was actually quite reasonable. Something like $38.

I bid on it but a lower figure because it was so beaten up.

I figured you'd be in the hunt.  I suppose the final price was rather realistic.

Incidentally, I am loving the wooden scale sportsman you bonused me (with T&T, pressed logo and blade filing).  It is a work of art that continues to impress!  So much so that I have been on the hunt for other wood scale vics.  But after reflection, I think the official ones do not live up to your high standard!  (I even added a microscrewdriver and it is just awesome).  Pics to be posted later after I get off of work.

Are any more still available (exposed rivets a plus)?

The Sportsman is a great SAK  :tu:  I'm loving mine, I got it a week ago now, I think. Would obviously be even better with wooden scales :)

top row:
Olive Tourist, exposed rivets, fileworked main blade spine, no keyring;
Olive Sportsman, exposed rivets, fileworked main blade spine;
Yellow Box Burl Sportsman, exposed rivets, fileworked main blade spine;
Brown Mallee Burl Tourist, exposed rivets, fileworked main blade spine;
Yellow Box Burl Tourist, exposed rivets, fileworked spine and Sheepsfoot profiled main blade;
Brown Mallee Burl Waiter, fileworked main blade spine.
These are all built from pre-loved knives but in good condition.

bottom row:  ALL WAiTERS, ALL built from BNIB except last which is BNNB: (lost the box somehow  :think: )
Olive, exposed rivets;
Mulberry, exposed rivets;
Acacia, exposed rivets;
Silky Oak, exposed rivets;
Black Wattle, exposed rivets;
Jarrah, exposed rivets;

All wood is finished in Boiled Linseed Oil. I feel the satin finish feels and looks better than a thick glossy polyurethane which makes the wood look like some plastic imitation.
All exposed rivet heads are flush with the wood, not domed heads.

All/any of these are for sale/trade. $35 each plus shipping at cost.

I think I am done with cellidor. Alox, wood, and nylon, in that order as well. This knife knife has been a revelation!  (Well, the Compact may qualify, tbd).
