At the moment my favorite 84mm is the Apprentice.  It packs nearly everything I might need on a daily basis into a slim, pocketable package that weighs next to nothing.  I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes Victorinox would bring this model back.

My only 84mm is kinda exotic, so although I love it, I don't really use the tool because I don't know if I would be able to find another in case this one got lost.
It's a Bantam with grey scales and purplish blue coated tools. I can't capture the color in pictures, but they are enough to give an idea:
(Image removed from quote.)

I don't think I've ever seen one quite like that before.

They were made by a company that offers several kinds of coatings for tools/machines and were distributed as gifts. I have no Idea how many are out there, or if the company did the same in other countries.

A few more pics, comparing to a regular blade:

Nothing wrong with the Recruit.  It's a great SAK.  I have one in black and another in red.

I really should. :-[  I think I've got every other common 84mm SAK, and a few less common ones as well, but I've skipped the Recruit.  I guess it's too much like the Tinker Small, but that's no excuse for not having one.

Oooh, that's a bold claim. :D  I would have thought is would be a 58mm SAK, but you might be right.

Probably up for debate  :D but I guess if you apply math to this, the Rambler wins.  Pretty sure the Waiter wins for the 84 MM class, though.

Good research there Dan.

I still think The Sportsman tips it for me in versatility at 84mil. I've been carrying mine for a couple of days now. It's been too mild for my RAF style sheepskin jacket this week but I'm waiting for the next belt of cold!

I think I'd have to agree.  If I really had to pick just one 84mm SAK it'd have to be the Sportsman.  Add the pin and mini screwdriver and you've got a whole load of features in a very neat little package.

I've gotten rid of all my sportsman's and your making me miss them.

I did pick up a delemont evolution version of the sportsman.  First, impressions, I like the standard scales better.

I've recently been given my grandfather's old 84mm Climber. He gave me my first SAK, a Wenger Forester when I was a kid (and probably a bit too young to really value it properly).

Looking at the tang stamps and the clip-point small blade, the information from SAK wiki and other threads suggests that it is probably from the early 70s, although I would value a second opinion from those who know their stuff better than me. I have got some replacement scales and a scissor spring on order - after all, it seems the most fitting thing to do with it is use it.

There is something engraved on the blade too, but I can't really make it out

It would be impressive if it were 1960s, especially as that would mean it was in his pocket basically every day for nearly 50 years without getting lost along the way.

I have added another pic. The small blade is a clip point, which suggests it is from before the mid-70s, and the corkscrew indicates possibly 60s (thanks El Corkscrew) but the can opener looks more like the mid 80s version to me. Maybe he sent it off for repair at one point and it was replaced?
