When looking at my '61-'68 Small Climber, I think I realized why I like it so much. There is a bit of detail that is different on every tool, versus a 'modern' SAK. Up close, it is possible to see some hand finishing on certain parts, like the scissors and awl.

Cool piece with all those vintage details.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Differences (click thumbnail for full pics, if desired):

-Bail versus keyring

-Nickel silver logo
-Aluminum tipped tweezers
-Larger, more substantial toothpick

-5-Turn, grooved corkscrew

-No-hole awl

-Cap lifter has a sharpened wire stripper

-"Swiss Pat." on can opener

-84mm scissors with single black spring...what more needs to be said  :)

-Main blade with Victoria stamp

-Clip point small blade

I don't carry Pocket Pal style of SAK very often but it bridges the gap between SAK and traditional knife very nicely IMO.

I love that knife! Perfect showpiece for so many changes & in such excellent condition.

The hand finishing is especially lovely, I've never owned one that was like that.

Awww, that’s just an old piece of metal and plastic that’s ready for Goodwill.  Be happy to “help you out” and swap you a NIB Climber so that you can take advantage of the modern functions like the hook and mini-screwdriver.

Very, very nice.......I suspect that will be in your collection for awhile.   :tu:

I do miss the solid red scales but the back scale had come loose and I'm not big on the super glue method so I went with black to match my new car. :D

Dunno what it is about teaspoons at workplaces - they always seem to evaporate or something. ???

These guys were intrigued enough to launch a formal study:  :D

Didn’t think I would ever have a chance of seeing one of these let alone add it to my collection, but sometimes things just turn out right.  It wasn’t called a Camper when it was made but has the toolset of the newer knife by that name.....84 mm of course.  No T&T so just a very basic knife that was in someone’s pocket for a long time......

Thanks Lisa, it was a bit of a shock.  I was sure a scissors layer was going to pop up and turn it into a small Woodsman but happily no.  I know you have a thing for Campers so if I find a couple more I will send you one.  Might be a bad thing to hold your breath though.  😈.

Thanks Gareth.....I’m hopelessly hooked on these 84mm’s I’m afraid and don’t mind it at all.  I have sidetracked to other sizes but keep coming back and these small ones (Vic & Wenger) are what I carry.   :hatsoff:

Another addition to my 84mm... although not the real one... A custom Voyageur...

I can understand why there’s soo much love for this model on a user perspective... Slim and with just the right tools, yet it still disappears in the pocket...

This baby is now my designated Dress SAK... just perfect for formal occassions...

I’m now having thoughts about going for the minimal sak challenge in the near future with this one...

:woohoo: noce mod.  I wish I loved the combo tool.  I've tried but I find the combo tool underwhelming.  I have 84mm Golfer that really wants to play but is relegated to queen status.

I encourage you to go for a minimal SAK challenge with that SAK  :pok:.  Push your SAK comfort  :tu:
