I was watching that one. Thought it would go high but went higher than I thought. In the last six month to a year there have been two and maybe three with etched blades that went for over $200 and they were well used PST`s. The etched bladed PST I have is in almost mint condition and paid $59 for it. But I also bought it before the big boys with deep pockets were gunning for etched blades.    :D

Tell me about it. ::) This website has done horrible things to the prices of once-inexpensive tools. :P A few years ago, that seller would have been lucky to get 20 bucks.

It bothers me when people bid up a current production tool above the street price. You know that the retailers have got to be paying attention.

The other place it shows is at pawn shops and knife shows / swap meets. It's really hard to find that "great deal" on someone's table, when he knows he could make more money at home with his computer.

I agree, the situation with the prices of Leatherman old and new tools is weird, to say the least.
I wanted a supertool, as a user, so I thought it would be better (see cheaper) to go for an older, used model (original or 200) on Ebay.
After trying for a couple of weeks and seeing them being sold for around the same money as a new 300, irrespective of their condition, I decided that I may as well go after the newer model. So I got a new 300 with sheath for $42 plus, reasonable, shipping.

Maybe the older ones are quite collectible ??? ; I assume they are all being bought by forum members!  :D

I got one on Ebay last night for about $30 with shipping.
I don't know how old it is but it looks like the one I had back in the 90's.

DB looks like a mid-90s with new knife blade with pivot in screwdrivers.   :tu:   More info can be found in the PST Chronology thread at the top of the page.    :)

Thanks I'll take a look. I guess I could have asked the seller to look for a date stamp but I stumbled on the auction 10 minutes before close. I'm happy though because I'm pretty sure I paid about $30 for my PST back in the day and sold it for $25 a few years ago.

$30 for what looks like a good condition PST seems like a decent price to me.

I wonder if the seller had any idea as to how much that baby was worth?
