a STEAL on swisstool, OR are these COUNTERFIT?
on: May 02, 2011, 08:26:39 AM
I have been trying to score a few things on eaby since No one seems to have what I want when I actually have the $$.

when I ran across some $20 swisstools.  I was almost tempted to buy a ton and try and sell thembyself, but then common sense kicked in and I thought I would at least investigate a little.

I found a thread on here about a knock off gerber, and have found links on victorinoxes site about a knock off knife, but I didnt  see the swisstools.

I also googled their customer service motto at the bottom of the page and its lifted verbatume from an abeay store called Gadzooks.

I assume the adage of if it sounds too good to be true it probably is, would apply?

OR does ebay protect me even if it is from china, and a brand new seller.

Brand new seller, from China, selling an item massively under normal market price, using stock pictures and descriptions, and text lifted straight from another seller.

Of course it's a fake.

Yes, eBay will protect your purchase if you purchase via Paypal but abusing the system isn't exactly kind.

That is tempting.... I have bought some items from sellers with zero rating before, and because nobody else was bidding I got a very good price, but  $20 with shipping???

On a similar note, there is someone else selling cheap, new, micras but in the picture they show it does not say Leatherman on the scissors, so at least they are being honest with their pictures.  :D

20$ for a swisstool it for sure a fake...

About Gad Zooks, I'm happy with them. I buy a first time a swisstool via eBay and after 4 rescue tool via their web site because I get a Bonus code.
Every think was OK except the 1 mouth and half delivery time to France, but when I write them that I was waiting; they propose to reimburse me ! Finally I wait and get my order... That nice

Current Wholesale is about $60. You do the math.

So over $80 is what you would expect, $70 including shipping would be a little hard to believe, $20 is just obviously complete bull.
I have only just bought a SwissTool and everyone selling them was asking ~$90, I bought a 2nd hand one for $62 (incl shipping).  Had I spotted a new one for $20 I would not have considered buying it, at that price the chances of it being genuine fall well below 1% and I don't want to waste $20 on odds that low.

Great deal. Seller has a lousy feedback and some very dissatisfied customers but looks like you lucked out.

It was too tempting not to try it. I did only order 1.

I have had a busy day so I disappered till a little while ago, and apparently so did the company, my bid and everything. Ebay doesn't even show the tranxaction anylonger, and the stinking page disapeared after I tried to print it.

its no longer listed on ebay.   But it is on paypal.

So I figure I get to file a dispute through them.

I should have just waited but the anticipation of getting a deal before it was gone bit and common sense lost.

I guess I actually did do well on another auction for around 48 including shippong, though the thing is monogramed with someone elses name. I have an idea about making a clip so maybe I can cover it up, or it will be so faint as to not get on my nerves.

That's a really good deal, obviously they have picked up some overstock somewhere at a really good price.  Unfortunately it's an RS version and there is no way I'd walk around with that weight of multi-tool that didn't have the tools I wanted.  If I was a paramedic or any other emergency services worker that actually preferred the RS version then I'd jump at the chance to grab one that cheap.

I got my ST X for only $62 with free shipping, but that was a 2nd hand one - I'm very pleased with it and the X has exactly the tools I want (scissors, file, PE blade, no SE blade).

I have no real need for the seat belt cutter but the RS is the tool I actually wanted. I seen it and at that price I couldn't resist it.

Getting that price + the version that you wanted = damned good bargain IMO!

I'm loving my ST X the SwissTool is one well designed & well made MT.

Thanks!

After a few days of EDC I am still loving it - the weight on my belt isn't bothering me at all and I barely notice it.

Victorinox really do have great quality and great fit & finish - it's hard not to love them!
